Documentation
I've travelled to france many times, on 2 wheels and for wheels. However, in 4 weeks time it will be the first time I've towed a caravan abroad.
The previous times I have visited, I have taken all the appropriate documents, both original and photo copy of each document. However, we are currently insured with admiral who only supply a copy of your insurance cert on line. As with the Police /
Insurance companies national data Base there is no need for a paper copy.
Moreover, I will only be able show, the French Police, if required to do so a copy of the insurance cert.
Has anyone experienced any problems with this ?

Never been asked for my documents, and although it says 'originals' I like you have my Insurance (Allianz) sent electronically so I just print off the certificate. I'm sure if stopped it would be sufficient and all the info is there to be checked.
I see the AA has changed its wording to only the original for the REG document, not mentioning this for insurance. <HERE>

Write your
The Admiral on line cert is not a copy, it is the original. Just print it off and take it with you. On line docs, in my experience, are perfectly acceptable as originals. The Frnch plod don't have access to the uk insurance database, so you must have a
cert with you.It is not a problem. Les Flics won't even know you forged it yourself.

Insurance documents sent electronically are usually sent as .pdf files so its very easy to use the print current page option to print off the insurance certificate. What I also do as well is put the printed copy back in the printer and print the translation
(usually the next page) on the reverse of main certificate. Pound to a penny no policeman would ever notice!!! Its documents like your V5 that can't be copies of the original.David
