ACSI ID problems
In April I ordered an ACSI ID card and, although my credit card has been debited, I have not received the card. I have exchanged emails with ACSI but still haven't had a card. They have essentially told me that they don't know what has happened and to start
again.
The sum involved is fairly trivial, (€5.95 or about £4.50) but I wondered if people still bother with camping carnets or ACSI ID cards. In the old days we sometimes had to leave our passports at reception and I remember a site in Belgium with an unlocked
drawer full of passports! I certainly would not wish to leave my passport as security but as I have used a camping carnet or ACSI for many years I haven't a clue whether these are still necessary.
What do you do?

I find that camping carpets and other ID cards are not needed in France these days, and passports are never collected and retained. I show a passport if they want to make a note of the number, and show my driving licence if they want an address, but people who go further afield may say It is different in other countries.

We find that our CCI card is accepted almost everywhere and earns us a discount on most sites. On the other hand, in some countries, Croatia for example, your passport is required for registration purposes. Never tried using a 'carpet' though!

CC messed up my CampingKey Card, not once but twice, so we're winging it in the Eastern part of Germany at the moment. One site accepted my ACSI discount card and kept it until we paid and the current site just wrote our details down on their computer. I
think it's just up to individual sites what they do but wouldn't stay anywhere where they keep my passport, much prefer to pay for a few nights in advance if push came to shove.0 -
We always pay the £4.95 for an International
Camping Carnet from the Club. Others have mentioned above that they haven't bothered but the important aspect of the carnet is that it covers you for third party insurance claims and many camp sites we have stayed on demand to see that you have such cover.0 -
I had an email from them in April to say there had been a glitch with the card printers so the cards would be delayed
