One of those caravanning experiences
After experiencing a massive thunderstorm that prevented us from visiting Chateau de Peyrepertuse, our attempt todrive down the Gorges de Galamus were stopped by the rescue teams looking for a swimmer in the river Agly which had turned into a raging torrent
taking down whole trees. When we arrived back at our site at St Paul de Fenouillet, my fears were justified. Ou van was up to the motor mover in the flood water. The warden had scooped up everything outside like the water barrel, chairs, my boxes and wine
and chucked them onto higher ground. The electric cable had been slung onto the van roof. He said he wanted to move the van in our absence but the wheel lock stopped him. I splashed my way to the door praying that the water had not got inside. Thankfully,
it had not - there was about an inch to go! The water level went down and the motor mover still functioned to get it out of the water and up to higher ground. My only loss was a broken wheel on the wastemaster as it was thrown over the hedge. My nerves finally
settled but I did wonder how I would have stood with insurznce had carpets, clothes in locker, mover etc been damaged by the water getting in.
