Love it or hate it, the programme has certianly generated a great deal of discussion, 1000 posts by the end of weekend I reckin, that has got to be a record unless someone knows different.
My question still remains unanswered though and I will ask it once again:-
Did the members pay or contribute to the repair of the Chairmans Caravan and any damaged Wedgewood. I must assume a nil response is a yes we did.

Write your comments here...If it was repaired via the CC insurance it will affect the rest of us who are insured through them as the volume/cost of repairs works through

What is light hearted about trying to drive up a hammock ...
Now that's what I call a challenge.

For those of you who didn't actually contact the CC directly; this is the reply I've just received.
Thank you for your email. We appreciate you taking time to contact The Club and we have taken on board the points that you raise.
Reviews of the Caravanner of The Year programme in the national media have been, in the very large majority, positive. The amount of coverage that we have received equates to over 30 million of the general public having had the opportunity to see, hear or read
about The Caravan Club – this is unprecedented in The Club’s history. BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show presenter, Chris Evans, talked positively about the programme, two days in a row. The day after the programme he said ‘what a show… it was brilliant last night…
we’ve got another Bake Off on our hands’. The BBC One Show also invited participants, their vehicles and judges to be on the show where we took the opportunity to talk about the many benefits of our pastime and encouraged people to get out and explore the
great outdoors. The overwhelming sentiment on social media following the airing of the programme was positive, and we ranked fourth in Twitter trends on the night. Many of our industry colleagues in caravan and motorhome manufacturing and retail have actively engaged in
supporting this initiative. We appreciate your feedback and we are sorry you were disappointed with the programme.
Write your comments here...... and that is word for word the same as the response that I received. It beggars belief that those in HQ actually believe that the Mackey taking press and commentators are actually commentating positively.
I am wondering where they got the figure of 30 million from as even a popular program attracts only about 4 million viewers? Maybe the CC read a different facebook or Twitter page to members? As for Chris Evans, who listens to him anyway?
I am guessing that the CC think that its members are too stupid not to know any better and should be treated like children and told anything to calm them down!

Chris Evans gets just shy of ten million listeners. He, and other shows on the BBC, were mainly positive about COTY., as were Gogglebox last night.

If by positive you mean they thought it was entertaining and something to laugh at, no argument with you there , but that was not the aim of the program.
Unless you find making a laughing stock and an ass of the club, and some of its members, as good fun and acceptable.

Gogglebox thought it was a hilarious farce as did most people, including me. The big issue is that the Chairman of CC took part in the farce which was sold to us as a competition and not as a Carry On film. I've no problem at all with the program itself
only with the judgement of CC. Would you rely on people displaying such poor judgement to run your personal affairs? I wouldn't, so how can they be relied upon to run the business that is CC?0 -
Have I been humiliated by a TV programme? Am I ashamed to get my caravan out of the shed? Is everyone in the district laughing at me? Am I going to vote against the Chairman, cancel all my bookings and then resign go from the Club? Well, of course not, even though a lot of silly people on here have said they are. What a fuss.
Agree, too much fuss.
Is Eastenders or Coronation street billed as a load of rubbish or depicted by its title to be a comedy, no, but it is.
The only thing I will agree with, there are more forum members that don't agree with my viewpoint, and they deserve a non-stock answer from the club.

ERRRR is Coronation street or Eastenders advertised or promoted as real life ??

If it had been promoted as a spoof ,or comedy show etc , no problems, but it was not!
It was promoted by the caravan club as a competition, to truly reflect what they see as elite examples, of the caravan club membership.

Where does it say not in the title
That's the point ! Eastenders and Coronation street are not ,The big give away is they are classed as soap operas
The competition, is not

Caravanner100 . You are taking it all too seriously my friend. It was a pretend competition like Merton v Hislop on Have I Got News for You. Not meant to find the best caravan owner in the world. Not serious. Joke. Smile. Lighten up. Geddit?

Whatever it was intended to be or ended up being it's taken place and will be over next week. Soon be forgotten as the TV world moves on.
The only effect it's had on me is that it's confirmed that the Club's member relations and communication is pretty poor.

I agree with that, a more deserving reply on here would help placate some members.

I think it would have already reached a 1000 posts. As from what I've read, MANY earlier in this thread ave been 'removed'....
And a for 'Goggleboxers' not being caravanners?
One family lives in a static. Close enough me (excluding towing though)...

Please dont ever repeat this appalling representation of caravan club members. If these six couples were the best of the bunch, how could you, from all those entrants, select someone who flatly refused to perform a reverse manoeuvre with trailer. What safety
assessments were conducted where an elderly lady with a stick was allowed to walk directly behind a reversing caravan?. Cringeingly embarrassing is just about the best description of this programme. Watch the final? sorry I'd rather watch paint dry.0 -

If you decide to take up the challenge CY please let me know as I would like to watch.
I think I'll sleep on it.

Anyone want to send this link to GC?

Perhaps I was naive to think this would be a serious competition as indicated by the title. However TV companies seemingly have to bring everything down to the lowest common denominator so I should have guessed It was going to end up as farce.
If the title of the programme had been something like 'eccentrics that caravans' or 'doing a turn in your motorhome' then I would not have posted as the title would have given the clue to the content
Unfortunately because of the programme I believe that the title of 'caravanner of the year' has been devalued.
