Not a fan of long shorts.  Knee length, or just above knee length suits me best.  I've worn shorts continually this last 7 weeks.

Shorts  - lovely - the shorter the better from my point of view. I've got short legs and I have spent last 4 yrs or so trying to get shorts that are short enough!

Bermudas are OK in Bermuda but in the UK I want a tan line that is 6 inches above my knee caps.

I found it impossible to get a decent pair of shorts in the UK so when the wife went to South Africa that was on top of her buying list.

The other issue is decent long socks that are meant to be worn with shorts.  In my younger days I could keep my pen in the top of my socks as I mostly wore a T shirt when working.  Also the socks stayed up on their own and I never needed garters to hold
them up.  Sadly I am now down to one decent pair of long socks.

Any one remember the "safari suits" which looked neat and were cool?  You could wear them with either matching shorts or longs.

for gents, Fat Face have a sale on at the moment for those who need (proper) shorts...also good end-of-season supply in M&S.

however, OH finds it really hard to get good shorts....theyre all micro styled these days.....oh, well...Wink

    i virtually live in shorts.....with Crocs/flip flops..no socks...lol.

however, socks are de rigeur 'on the course'....though we do get away with those tiny 'shoe liner' types......no plus fours/twos for us these days...

I always find it a strange dress code at some golf clubs which specify tailored shorts with knee length socks. Seems  to defeat the purpose somehow.

Not just Brits, Tammy. You must have seen plenty of Dutch and Belgian tourers with their black socks. Usually with a pair of dirty trainers.

No need to get a proper pair of shorts, just get a pair of decent trousers and cut the legs off at a length to produce a pair of shorts just as you like them. All it needs is an OH who's good with a needle and thread, like mine!!Laughing

BTW I never wear socks with sandals and only very short one when I've my trainers on.

Can't say that I have, they usually wear crocs or flipflops. Our boys told OH off many years ago when they came on holiday with us, after many years of not coming, they were 22 &20 at the time. OH had shorts on and trainers with white sport socks, the bous
said "Mum do something with Dad 's socks" he had pulled them upSurprised the boys were refusing to go out with him like that, he has now
been re-educated into wearing shorter socks with trainers/shortsLaughing

There does seem to be a trend amongst professional cyclists for wearing longer socks, especially black ones, for some reason.

luckily most golf clubs arent stuck in the same time warp as some 'caravan' clubs...Undecided

most golf clubs have realised that you have to move with the times in order to survive, again, unlike some 'caravan' clubs..Undecided

I've a lovely pair of  lederhosen, which I swapped for a Bowie knife at an international Scout camp 50 years ago which used to complement my woggle. I still wear them from time time although they're a bit 'huggy' now, but I no longer wear my Red Six sock tabs.

    Dib, dib, dib...........

Probably compression socks to help avoid cramp perhaps or help keep the circulation going at the right rate?

Certainly have TG. Surely the idea of sandals is to let fresh air get to ones feet.

Fresh air? Maybe for the feet but that stuff can get in your lungs, you know.
