Vignettes and Stickers

So its looking like I have to cover my windscreen in stickers if I want freedom of road travel for next years Croatia / Switzerland trip.
Can you confirm I need seperate 'Vignettes' for Austria, Slovakia and Switzerland (3 in total) and is it practical to travel through, stop and explore Germany without an 'Emmissions' sticker (not really interested in going into cities).
On the other hand is it feasible to travel through the 'Vignette' countries tugging a caravan without using motorways / toll roads or would it be a hassle.
Finally, if 'Vignettes' are the way to go, can you reccommend a good / safe site to purchase.
