Where to go ?

We are unsure where to go in France next year. The ferry is booked but our destination(s) aren't yet decided. At the moment it is possibly the Alsace region where we have been before but I have been wondering about Limousin, somewhere between Limoges and
Clermont-Ferrand. We aren't bothered about cities but we do like villages and small towns. We also like the 'natural' places and 'photogenic' areas.

Has anyone been to this area and can give us any info as to what it is like? The maps make it look fairly hilly and wooded, neither of which we mind.  We would expect to spend about a week in the area, meandering our way from and to Calais over a total three
week period.  Any help making a decision would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
