Ground sheets

during our visit to Spain earlier this year to have a look at potential camp sites for winter 2016/17 I noticed that a lot of folk have ground sheets ouside the awning as well as inside.  What's that all about?

In view of this, should I be thinking of taking extra ground sheets for the same purpose - whatever that purpose is?

    We also use the lightweight netting that you can buy on most Spanish sites. There tend to be a lot of feral cats on many Spanish sites, the netting stops the gravel getting in your van, but also stops the cats crapping on your bit of gravel. Vicious things
    they are - absolutely not frightened of our Jack Russell, who does her best to keep them away.

    Where we go in Portugal  there are no feral cats as the owner has several of her own, all doctored and very capable of seeing off any intruders, they don't even like each other much and have carved out their territory where kind hearted visitors spoil them

    Yes. In Spain its our friends the Germans who feed them. They even take some of the kittens home with them.

    The condition of these cats is awful due to in breeding. Our JR would be doing them a favour if she got hold of them, but I stop her 'cos I'm worried hat she would get a claw in her eyes.

    Rabbits are fair game though.

    Hi what does the sheeting look like that you use from garden centre does it have a brand name? Is it a lot lighter than the netted awning carpet you buy here in UK?

    Bought mine at the site shop, but it is pretty standard stuff in Spain.

    Very thin, much lighter than groundsheets and available in many sizes from small to huge. So thin it is transparent.

    Thanks for description actually found some in the back of my shed! Do you just use tent pegs to hold it down?

    I use the same as David, repair washers(small hole, big washer), with a 3inch nail. Can be used in areas where you walk as they are flush to the ground.

    5 weeks today Hull/Zeebruge ferry then 6 weeks away in France in our new motorhome we collect in 10 days. Can't wait. We previously toured with caravan.
