Pointless Planning - But it's Fun!!
As the winter nights draw in I am thinking of next year's trip(s) abroad, probably to France. Sitting by the fire, anticipating the warmth of the countryside and the people, local markets, restaurants and sitting out in the sun of an evening with a glass
of local produce and all that goes with such trips.
I love poring over maps, using Google to see what the roads actually look like, using site guides, web-sites etc., planning which route, where to stop en route for a nice lunch break or a fill up every two hours or so and maybe identify an easy-to-access
hypermarket for supplies near the destination. Plan it all to the last detail. Even print out a route.
Then when I actually set out and go, most of it goes out of the window. Apart from the start and the finish nothing is as planned. Never stop as planned, take a different route, stop at a different place or time and so forth.
But wasn't the planning fun? The stuff of dreams and delicious anticipation!
Does anyone else waste so much time on pointlss planning?
