Personal Experiences Passing Through Rouen Please.
I realise that something similar to this may have arisen before but the search engine is no help in my case.
It is our intention to traverse central Rouen in early April, en route from the Tunnel at Calais, via Tours to the South West of France with a caravan. I would appreciate some input into our plans from those that have recent (last five years) experience
of Rouen.
Although Rouen is a bit messy, I have decided to plan a route this way as I would rather avoid Paris, and avoiding Rouen by going via Caen adds too much to the journey.
I have come up with two routes, Google Maps chooses one, but resolutely refuses to allow me to use the other, it goes all over the place.
Route One. From the A28 and N28 into Rouen, Google Maps Route takes you along the right bank of the Seine, along the Quai du Havre and then, via a small loop, around and over the Pont Guillaume Le Conquerant, south onto the N338, and then ultimately to the
A13 and A28 South.
Route 2. To me, the river crossing further up-stream over the island in the Seine, south across the Pont Mathilde, then onto Boulevard de L’Europe and thence onto the N338 seems more logical and a more direct way.
When I drag and drop Google’s route markers to change Route 1 into Route 2, Google Maps goes crazy and sends me all over the place rather than use the Pont Mathilde. Pont Mathilde does not seem to be a north-only one way street, so what has GM got against
using it to cross the river Southwards?
Anyone advise please? Thanks.
Peter.
