Sleeping gas detectors

Does anyone have recommendations on detectors for soporific and other gasses?

I just talked to friends in France, and they had their motorhome broken into by thieves using gas to put them to sleep. It seems to be fairly common in France.

We will be driving through France late next week, so it could be advisable to install a detector.
