Spring break in France

We are thinking of taking a 2 week break in France from mid April (bit late i know but still time) visiting the areas around Annecy and St Tropez. As it coincides with the French Spring break holiday we were wondering how busy sites would be and whether
we can just turn up. If anybody knows tranquil sites which are good for walking in these areas we would love to hear from you.
