I see from the latest magazine that the Club will be introducing a charge (!) of £8 per day for electric vehicles and that users will need to plug into their van/motorhome not into the bollard. 24 hours charging through a “granny lead” (13 amp plug) will just about fully charge a small car. Unfortunately you will need to…
My heart goes out to these gentlemen, a very 'visible' and challenging disability for all concerned . I've followed the life of one of them in documentaries since he was a teen and only just come across this video showing them enjoying motorcaraving. https://youtu.be/dtCUYUBOnzk
Having contributed on this forum since its inception my use has changed over the years. In its early days, for me, it was a place to chat with fellow members on a wide range of topics whilst learning about this new fangled thing called social media. Just wondered how many of the 'old guard' still visit and how they view…
Hi, After spending over six months deciding on which motorhome or campervan to go for I came across, what I thought was, the perfect solution, a demountable. I have bought a Ford Ranger and have found a second hand demountable on ebay. The issue is that very few people or companies are aware of them, even this site won't…
Perhaps I've missed it, but there used to be an annual survey carried out by the CC of it's members satisfaction, or otherwise, of their vans. I can't remember seeing one for a while now. Is this perhaps because the manufacturers of British caravans have put pressure on the CC not to run such a survey because, from reading…
As many will know south Yorkshire has been hit bad by flooding. If you have a caravan stored at pastures meadows storage site at mexborough you may need to check your vans. It would seem some people don't know its been flooded.
At the beginning of December we were staying on the Brighton site and I broke my arm and was unable to drive. When I contacted Mayday Green Flag, with a copy of a medical certificate, I was told the distance from Brighton to my home in Clacton On Sea meant I would be taken home by breakdown truck and not a Chauffeur/Driver…
Fairly new to this caravan malarkey, having previously owned a winnebago, hence the user name,...................however what strikes me is the lack of in-built security in a caravan, hence making them easy to steal unless you apply some sort or 'after market' device, or in our case several devices, 1 hitchlock 2 wheel…
Having recently retired my wife and I plan to take off in our caravan for 6 months leaving our house unoccupied for the period. Does anyone have any advice on maintaining adequate buildings and contents insurance for that amount of time? Our current one will go up to 60 days (total in any one year) and if we get…
Hi Folks, I am a member of the NZMCA New Zealand Motor Caravan assoc., and would like to know if any member is looking to holiday in NZ in the near future. As I have a VW LT46 6 berth motor home and would be more than happy to lend it to one of your members in exchange for the use of their's whilst in UK in Sept 2020. A…
