EV Charging on Club Sites

I see from the latest magazine that the Club will be introducing a charge (!) of £8 per day for electric vehicles and that users will need to plug into their van/motorhome not into the bollard. 24 hours charging through a “granny lead” (13 amp plug) will just about fully charge a small car. Unfortunately you will need to keep the car set on 13 amps charging otherwise not much will happen to increase your range. That leaves 3 amps for everything else!

To be fair, the Club say that they will be introducing some stand-alone chargers designed for the job. Perhaps in about 10 years time you will be able to drive your electric motorhome to the service point: plug in to the mains, plug in to the water and empty the waste tank all concurrently. Nice to dream.

It may not be a dream. It doesn't seem that long ago that I was reading about flat screen VDUs. I bet there are not many households  still with TV using cathode ray tubes! UPS, the parcel delivery company, has just placed an order for 10, 000, yes 10,000 electric powered vans.

This was mentioned earlier, so when the digital version arrived I looked for the article and could not find it. On reading the OP I had a look at the hard copy and found it on page 92 under Ask Your Club.

There is no such section in the digital version. Page 92 is taken up by an advert for Tow Car of the Year. Not very good to miss such important information from the digital version.
