Re: We need your help - Introducing Lizzie
so just had a little chat with Lizzie, generally it was very factual and when pushed she gave some fairly general information that focused more on the area of the campsites than the campsite themselves.
she couldn’t tell me if the site had serviced pitches but was abit to rattle off all the other types when I asked how many pitches there were on the campsite.
I rang back a second time and asked the same initial question and she gave the same campsites but in a very different style, which I actually preferred (she gave a quick location summery of the 3 sites she suggested)
I agree on the over use of my name, I get it’s trying to be personable, but as humans we don’t really use each others names quick as much in casual conversation.
The tone / sound of her voice changes quite a bit which again is a little off putting and a one point it was like a different “person” said one part of the sentence.
It was easy to use, and the information provided would help someone to understand the campsites available to them.
It might help if she’s suggesting 3 for the area, that she could say however there are (number) others in the area also available.
Lastly a rang to try another area, and sadly but rather humorously she got stuck trying to understand my request for the location Cotswolds.
she told me very emphatically the club don’t have a campsite called cockswells quite a few times.
🤭😂😂😂😂😂😂
Re: We need your help - Introducing Lizzie
Had a little go a few moments ago. I asked Lizzie for a site in the Cotswolds. I asked for more details on the Broadway site. Lizzie seems good at giving details about the locality, but at present, less details on the site itself. e.g. not able to tell me if there were serviced pitches. Perhaps this might be possible within the fullness of time.
Happy with the results for a new initiative.
David.
Edit: still waiting for access to fill in the google survey.. 🙂
Re: What are you all up to
We've been lucky here on the east coast - apart from it being a bit breezy yesterday - not really seen anything of the latest storm. Last week's snow has now disappeared completely - it's just grey and wet!
Don't necessarily agree about open plan design being difficult to heat. Our last house - a barn conversion - had rooms downstairs we hardly used. Two sitting rooms, separate dining room, large kitchen / diner and a large hall. Most of the time we just used the kitchen and the smaller of the sitting rooms.
So - we we supposedly 'downsized', we (i.e. - I designed it - the builders did it!) gutted this house inside and virtually rebuilt it, creating large open plan areas. A small sitting room and kitchen were knocked into one which also led to the conservatory through an archway. Since all of the walls were taken up with units and worktop, there was nowhere to install radiators, so we fitted 3 plinth heaters - linked to the central heating system - underneath some of the units. I think each one is rated at 2kW and they are very effective. We also installed a fully insulated roof on the conservatory and that had a dramatic effect in conserving heat.
We also knocked the main sitting room and dining room into one, creating a 30'+ long room and with it's wood-burner and 3 double radiators - it's toasty warm.
What we have achieved is a home we were are using all of the available space all of the time and it certainly works for us. As I've said before, I do miss our Aga though - but this house doesn't really lend itself to it.
Re: What are you all up to
The storm tonight has been horrendous but, thankfully, all over in less than 2 hours.
Daylight will reveal all.
Re: What are you all up to
We have had a grey, damp and mizzly day, so have not done much apart from our regular walks with Flyte. I have just done a check up on last year's trips. We were away in the caravan for a total of 248 nights, during 6 separate tours staying on 62 locations, although a few on more than 1 occasion. We stopped on many different types of sites; CLs & CSs, Commercial, CAMC and C&CC sites, THSs and a rally, at an average cost of:£17:63 per night, around 50p per night dearer than in 2024.
Stay safe one and all.

Le Shuttle is offering a discount of 20 percent if you book before 11th January. Got my tickets including using Tesco vouchers. Very happy with what my final outlay was.

Re: Event weekends - your feedback needed
I can remember the wine tasting that was put on at Hillside, I believe it was done by St Austels Brewery in conjunction with Brown Bros wine. I certainly enjoyed the one I attended and got hooked on some of their wines. Sadly they were never repeated and Brown Bros wines are difficult to come by.

Re: We need your help - Introducing Lizzie
Lizzie is a really cool innovation, even if it is still in its early learning phases as it took a few times to hear my name after repeating it a few times.
I asked Lizzie to find me campsites for a trip I want to do later this year taking in the three peaks (Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis) and it seemed to take on board the pronouncation of Ben Nevis after incorrectly repeating it as Ben NEE-vis on first attempt.
But the accurate information it gave and natural nature of conversation was very impressive and I'm intrigued to see how it develops over the next year or so with more people using it.
Re: We need your help - Introducing Lizzie
Hi from a very cold Southern Spain (its baltic here!)
I have just spent some time trying out Lizzie and she's pretty helpful. I certainly put her to the test and yes it is AI and she definitely needs some refining!
I asked her for a variety of information:
- Information about where to stay in The Cotswolds and was given three choices; Bourton-on-the-Water, Cirencester Park and Moreton-in-Marsh, I found it a bit odd that I had to press for more info about the other sites in the area as it missed off Broadway and Burford. I also asked whether any were near train stations and was given information about the nearest (national) railway stations to each site.
- Any information about sites in Portugal…..she's not trained for that yet.
- A trip to Wales and where to go as I'd like to do some waterski-ing (I was testing her) I was given a choice of sites Freshwater East and Gaer Hyfryd, the latter is over an hour from the coast so it's not really that close for watersports! I also asked if both sites were close to a pub and shops which it said it was, Gaer Hyfryd has the Rhug Estate within a 15min walk which is a bistro/farm shop. Freshwater East has Jacks nearby in another caravan site, but a shop is at least 20 min drive away, so for motorhomers this could be an issue.
- I asked about information about insurance and was told to go to KAMC.COM (oops Lizzie!)
Overall I found the information given very good although she did sound a little too "robotish" for my liking and how she constantly kept repeating my name was a bit annoying…….I've decided I'm glad I wasn't called Steve or Peter (thats what i used in testing)
Finally, its the CAMC not the KAMC as she kept saying.
Give her a try, she will definitely not replace our wonderful site teams or contact centre who are full of fantastic information, its the start of your holiday planning 01342 775020
