Did you know…
Did you know the South West Division of the CAMC organises many caravan and motorhome events which are listed on our website for the whole of the South West?
Events range from a 2 night stay to 14 nights away, in a variety of locations, amongst enviable picturesque scenery and, the majority of the events are cheaper than staying on a Club Site!
These events will appeal to those who prefer to use their own onboard facilities, however, a selection of events are on sites with facilities but importantly they are for those who enjoy the countryside, beaches and pretty villages, a bit of peace and quiet or being social, the choice is yours.
Belonging to one of our Centres in the South West (or UK- wide) is included in your membership so why not visit our list of events and access ‘value for money’ weekends away, or holidays with (or without) children. I’m sure you’ll find an event that intrigues.
Any questions? click the Centre’s website for more info…!
I’ll check in from time to time with some specific events coming up in the South West.
Meanwhile, do let me, and our Club Together friends know when you’ve tried one of our 2025 events….we will look forward to hearing about your experiences 😊

Re: What’s your dream destination for a worldwide tour?
I saw a possum in New Zealand last year, it was lying on my feet whilst I slept. It was only because of the contrast between the white sheets of the bed and the dark shape that I saw anything. I assumed it was a cat and as I jumped up it escaped through the partly open sliding door ( it was a hot night) onto the verandah. When I mentioned a cat to the receptionist the following morning, her reply was there are no cats in the National Park, it would have been a possum, This was confirmed by the guy next door who had a possum enter their room whilst they were watching TV,
Possums, stoats and rats are the targets of the Predator Free 2050 eradication programme. We are talking in the millions. Everywhere we went in South Island we saw evidence of Poison baiting
Re: Smart Meter
I suppose Smart Meters make such things as Economy 7 redundant as it requires a separate meter to operate. A Smart Meter allows your energy supplier to offer different tariffs depending on the time of day? Now that we generate so much of our electricity by wind power probably means that we have a surplus overnight hence people getting low rates to charge EV's and or Batteries which support the Solar Panels on a house?

@InaD Glad to hear you have had a result about your operation. The thought is often worse than reality I find. I was also unsure about the spinal block but I did have it and it was actually fine for me. I found that I was asleep really and the anaesthetist appeared to wake me at one point and asked if I was comfortable, other than that I remember nothing about it until I was in the recovery room. Also I had none of the reactions that I had previously experienced with a general.

Re: Condiments, Sauces, Pickles and Dressings
@Takethedogalong 👍I think I might be Belgian 🤣
I think you could be Dutch, like me 🤣 I was brought up in Holland with mayo on chips. Really missed it when I moved to the UK, and the mayo over here, IMHO of course, isn't as nice as the Dutch variety. Remia is a brand I like, and some years ago I found that Auchan supermarkets in France sell that, happy days! So I always take some back from France every year. Unless we go to Holland of course, and then the choice is endless 👍️
Mustard is something to be eaten with Dutch kroketten, again, IMHO of course; think potato croquettes, longer, but with different fillings, such as beef, chicken, prawns or vegetarian, yummy!

Re: What are you all up to
Thank goodness for the Aga. Our electricity may be off, but the old girl in the corner is topping up the heating, cooking a large joint of beef and heating the water.
The power is still off so we used the generator again for milking this morning. Whilst it is running and the house has power, I rush around charging phones etc. The generator will be going off soon as we don’t need it during the day. It’s just a bit gloomy.
The latest estimate for restoring power is 16:00. We will see.
Re: Rosedale Abbey site closed
The club would need to pay wardens and cover additional overheads and various other costs that the new owners may be able to avoid, so they might be able to cut their costs to help them run the site. Good luck to them.

Re: What are you all up to
This hobby of ours allows travel around the UK and we have noticed over the past few years just how much housing IS actually or has been built in recent years.
Travelling down from North Wales to East Anglia last year we came across large swathes of ongoing building almost everywhere so I was a little surprised to find that targets weren't being met. At the moment our "village" is in danger of meeting up with a neighbouring district. It only needs one farm to go and we'll be joined at the hip. Part of that farm is currently having foundations put down for about 40 properties in what has always been a flood field.
Re: What are you all up to
@Tinwheeler oh gosh yes🫣 I forgot about the China Clay. We used to stay around St Austell a lot during the 1980’s, and the whole area was dedicated in lots of different ways to China Clay. Even the pubs had names like The White Pyramid. It had a beauty in its own way, from a distance, and of course employed thousands, much like our pits. We nicknamed the huge white mountain you could see “White Willy” rather than the Brown Willy on Bodmin Moor. A much transformed landscape and area now, like here at home.😁
