5 ton RV MOT
I have a 20 yr old Phoenix Cruiser US RV, weighing around 5 tons. I am looking for any advice on where I could get this vehicle MOT'd. My previous MOT garage has closed down. I am based in Edinburgh, but will travel anywhere down to the Manchester Leeds area if necessary

Only thing I can suggest is to try a commercial vehicle garage? There’s a different MOT for commercials, but they should be able to at least deal with your vehicle in terms of weight/size. We used a small commercial garage for a repair down in Exeter on time when we had a problem with our smaller MH. Good luck with it.

There must be a link somewhere on this page that will help.
Vehicle tax, MOT and insurance - GOV.UK

Find out where the local HGVs go for MOT. There’s bound to be a testing site somewhere around Edinburgh.

Edinburgh city council has a test centre of their own and say they can cope with all classes of vehicle.

Using the local council facilities is my first choice. They can normally accommodate quite heavy vehicles, the operatives are well trained and qualified and as they are not permitted to offer repair services to the general public they are not tempted to "create" failures to get extra business.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. Edinburgh City Council do have an MOT centre, but they send all of their HGVs out for testing to Leyland DAF, who (along with other council centres) will only test registered HGVs. I did find the government MOT site useful for a list of centres which can handle HGVs, and eventually found a centre in Melrose, Scottish Borders, who can do it - J Borthwick Commercial Ltd. Very helpful, so anyone else needing this service, bear them in mind.
Hopefully problem solved - just have to get it through the MOT!
Thanks again
