The nest at the cathedral is again occupied again and the female of the pair has now laid their 4th egg.

Riveting. But after 676 comments so far about those flipping ospreys your news of peregrines will doubtless waken fresh interest .

I see that the Norwich Peregrines have laid 4 eggs, and the pair at Tewkesbury Abbey have 3 eggs.

An individual has deliberately destroyed the Peregrine eggs at St Albans Cathedral!!

@nelliethehooker I saw that on the BBC News website. It beggars belief that someone would do that deliberately. What puzzled me was that I imagined that the site of the eggs would have been in a restricted area, not available to the public. Could it have been a sad accident by someone/workman not aware of the situation? I wonder if they have the identity of the culprit?

Very sad indeed, I can only believe that the culprit didn’t know what they were doing. Someone possible with no knowledge or understanding of the significance may have thought they were pigeons eggs. Not that that was okay to destroy, mind. Hopefully security will be upped and another clutch laid.

It would appear that the police are investigating the incident, and hopefully they will identify and catch the culprit, & also give this information out so that people know the outcome. On a better note the adult birds are again mating and perhaps there will be another round of eggs.

At the Worcester Cathedral nest the first of the eggs hatched today, Easter Sunday, so hopefully the other will also do so at the appropriate time and the parents raise healthy chicks.

An icon bird, much persecuted as are many other raptors. Presently there are only 1750 breeding pairs in the entire UK so hopefully all will hatch and go on to fledge and add to the population.👍

Not such good news here at the Worcester nest, as there is now only one chick, out of 3, left in the nest, the dominant one having ejected the other two. There were 4 eggs but one failed to hatch.

Even worse news today, as the 3rd chick has died and the 4th egg did not hatch. The video live feed has been turned off now.

They are reporting that it might have been bird flu. Don't know if it's correct yet.

There is better news about the Peregrines at both Tewkesbury Abbey and Leicester Cathedral where both nests contain 3 chicks which all appear to be doing well. At the Salisbury Cathedral nest the 4 chicks have all been ringed and are ready to be named!
