I've just spent 3 nights at Wirral CP. Last year I was told that the Club would be changing the system in time for this years opening.

Well they have and they haven't. There are large BIFFA bins at the site entrance and small single BIFFA bins at the old collection points but only for Glass. There are still normal black bins for general waste and similar for recycling, non BIFFA. A bit unusual to have a mixture of both. I wonder why? Maybe the feedback the club got was enough to compromise.

been to Poolsbrook this month. Biffs bins for general waste, glass, mixed recycling at several places around the site and a small bin for those unable to open the bigger bins, for recycling.

It does seem the club are moving to the bins by the entrance, which is also used by the C&CC. There may be the odd one where this is impractical or needs more work, but I think the general rule is now bins at the entrance.

Frankly there can be no sensible opposition to losing the black bags, they are expensive, take time to empty and environmentally unfriendly. What many people do not realise they are also potentially dangerous for the staff emptying them. For any one who cannot manage the lids on the new bins the club says the staff will help.

As someone who investigated insurance accident claims, I have seen several claims from people emptying bins with black bin liners in. The most common was possibly infected needles and the worst injury was a lady who severed the fingers on her hand when a tin lid left sticking out the top came through the bag and caused the injury when she was pulling it to dispose of the waste. The effect of needles stabbing you is enormous, as you have to wait months to check some infections like AIDS and cutting the tendons left the lady with some serious loss of movement in the hand.

If nothing else I can see no valid argument against losing the bags on safety grounds. Gloves help, but are not fool proof.

If the "trial" of centralised rubbish bins is deemed successful then the next logical move will surely be centralised waste water and fresh water points with a single chemical toilet disposal point per site.

Not sure I see the logic in that? Service points require a minimum amount of day to day maintenance compared to dispersed rubbish bins?

If water and waste points were to be centralised hopefully, with the rise in the number of MHs, more than one drive over MHSP would be provided. Otherwise, I can foresee long queues forming to dump before exiting the site.

As with DK I can't see that following surely on from the bin? the bins were moved to reduce the cost both in money for the plastic bags and time. To move to one water/waste point would save nothing at all. It would asoo make the site more congested than they are now

I see no rhyme or reason whatsoever in assuming the above will follow! The potable water is delivered by tap and the waste removed by drain. What logic would support this? I can’t think of any.
