Best caravan route from Bilboa to Costa Brava - advice really needed for an old car!

Hi Everyone, I'm new on here and need some help. I wondered if anyone has recently driven from Bilboa to the Costa Brava? We're aiming at Roses (next Summer) and have been there loads of time but always via France. We're going for a change this year, but really want to avoid steep gradients/winding roads with our car. There are 3 routes suggested on ViaMichelin. We've already rejected the one that goes into France via Toulouse and want some advice on whether we should go via Zaragoza or Pamplona/Huesca? We're really aiming to ton it down to the Costa Brava and don't want to repeat the Pyrenees experience if we can avoid it. I don't think our old car would cope!

I would stick to motorway via Zaragoza - but it’s too far for me in a single day. Take care

That's what we were leaning to. We're not going to do it in 1 day we'll stop over but trying to avoid a lot of climbs with an older car. All other thoughts gratefully received x

I suspect that you are going to have some "climbs" are you are still in the territory of the Spanish Pyrenes, albeit in the "lower" sections. We did that motorway route in the Autumn of 22 and I do not remember it as being particularly challenging - we broke the journey in Zaragoza who have a big municipal site in the town centre - not too wonderful but have stayed in worse. This route is considerably easier than the A75 from Montpellier up to Clermont Ferrand so I suspect you will be fine. Have a great time!
