Lickpenny Campsite - Video Tour
Came across this video on YouTube of a tour of the Lickpenny campsite near Matlock, recently taken over by the Club. For those unfamiliar it might give an idea of what to expect. It seems that the Club "have plans" for the site including refurbishment of the facility blocks. Hopefully might include some Experience Freedom?

@Wherenext I do hope they keep the hedges. I suppose it depends of whether they change the layout of the site. Perhaps we can take heart from the fact that the new Premium Pitches on some sites have hedging around them so perhaps the Club are not so against? I noted from the video that the site has seasonal pitches and I imagine they will eventually go as usually on a Club site seasonal pitches only exist when site occupancy is lower. As I mentioned I hope the Club is looking at the possibility of Experience Freedom offer as its a good central site that us "homeless" members might like to take advantage of.

We were there in September, just after the club took it over. Only about 25% occupancy at that point.
It's lovely and spacious, lots of grass and trees and hedges, really nice. There's a garden centre with a good cafe, 3 minutes walk away. And it's not far at all from places like Chatsworth, which we've grown tired of (great location but pitches not great IMHO).
Downsides ? Toilets are a bit cramped - one of those where it's difficult to close the toilet door. But I'm not sure if that can be easily rectified.
When we were there the new club wardens were busy putting up lots and lots of Elf n' Safely signs that apparently had been missing (shock 😱 ). I really hope they don't start cutting back the greenery or trying to cram more pitches in. Anyway, we're going back in April so we'll see ;-)

I would expect them to leave the hedges, They have hedges on several sites and I have not noticed any reduction there. If they needed more pitches it might be done but otherwise the cost of clearing and making good the areas after removal might be prohibitive and may affect the licence. It would also be against the clubs green policies.

Had a drive up to the site last week to check out the road access… I know that one road very near by has a large "Dangerous Road/Hill" sign……Parked in the large area by reception and was met by the warden who gave us permission to have a wander around the site… The above video says it all and will be interesting to see what plans the 'club' has for a refurb….certainly the TB's need serious upgrade as do the SP's…and as Wildwood said up thread I do hope they don't mess too much with the hedges/greenery…
Aside….. we dropped down to Chatsworth Club site to meet up with friends for a scheduled "Christmas at Chatsworth" event. As we went through the 'door' and turned right, we couldn't help but notice the fencing which has been erected by the wall. Our friends informed us that 'men in suits' with clipboards had been on site and appeared to be inspecting all the walls…the section with the fencing certainly looks in danger of collapse… Also fyi…There is a massive pothole by the entrance..beware !!
