Club pitch prices

Staff and with it costs certainly have mushroomed since 2012 The increase in staff was 63 percent and the costs 61 percent. You have to wonder why when the network has remained pretty static? What areas have grown? IT perhaps!
I think I have read the EGH has downsized on floor space recently with many staff now working from home

Those add ons you mention are your list, not mine, and yes will incur a percentage to cover provision over the basic pitching space, although I would argue the costs vary.
I value peace and quiet, plenty of space, visiting wildlife, a walk or cycle route close by, a beach, way beyond being able to watch a TV, flush a public loo or queue for a public shower. Luckily for me, with careful choice, I get what I prefer, and at a good price😁

I agree fully with the above.

David, I agree that an organisation running '200' sites will have large overheads but it will also have 200 sites contributing to the coffers and profits.
if the club can't benefit from 'economies of scale' across such a vast estate, with such enormous buying power there must be something amiss.
contracts for all sorts of services and equipment must be on better terms than for the single commercial or private site that has far less to bargain with.
similarly, if the insurance and travel services aren't contributing in the way they should then there needs to be serious revision of the offering.
again, the single site doesn't have any of this to bolster its income.
as PD says, the one procedural difference with CAMC is the 'necessity' of a large office and workforce to support the clubs 'extra' activities.
the contrast to its approach to on site manpower levels is stark. A mid/large commercial will probably have with 2/3 staff in the office (almost all day) and be able to deploy other staff to clean toilets/showers, cut grass (remember that?) and hedges, carry out maintenance etc...
Prices are running away from many folk, Black Knowl in peak is over £54 for a HS pitch, and over £58 for an SP.
even in October, these prices are £45+ and £50+.
I know this is a nice site, in a lovely area...we've used it a couple of times but £350 a week in October for a SP.??

I'm not sure where or what the evidence is for saying prices are running away from many folk?
SP at Black Knowl are fully booked for 15 days for the remainder of July and fully booked again for 17 days in August, the rest are virtually all lows. September follows a very similar pattern (16 full).
People seem to be running to SP not away from them?
On HS the remainder of July is full for six days and lows again virtually everywhere else. That makes an occupancy rate of around 90% plus, not bad? A few lows in August but again difficult to know how many empty pitches, just not the magic five or less, I would imagine a high occupancy rate personally and it picking up nearer the time which appears to be the pattern now with these 'new' deposits. And then it picks up again in September with 8 full days.
Again if people are paying the prices in these numbers the club has probably got it right in their offer?

Pricing doesn’t make sense. Our caravan is booked into Seacroft for over 3 weeks in the summer. The pitch fee, which includes an adult is £22.80 a night. An extra adult is £30.40 so if there is another van or MH inn the family it’s cheaper to have one adult in two units!

Looking at prices for August the price per adult is about £17/18 depending on pitch type but I can't find any prices as low as you quote? The pitch fee doesn't include any adults.
A pitch plus one adult is around £37 over August and with two around £55? Which comes out to the overall price you gave.

- Pricing at Seacroft is standard pitch 2 adults is £54.30 in August basic price for pitch is £36.90 which is pitch with one adult. Super pitch is about an extra £5.00

I have just submitted my review on the 'Clubs' to Trustpilot and then while looking for other 'pricing' comments found this thread.
When submitting the TPilot review it struck me that there is one glaring issue I had not considered before with the clubs and that is the justifiable? cost of the second, third etc person. The site I researched was for July 2025(a random seasonal choice) where the first occupany is £20.60 and the second adult is an additional £10.10.
Can anyone tell me what the second adult does or can do to justify a charge that clearly has no basis in an increase in services provided of 50%?
I suspect no one can justify it in 'acceptable' terms although I would be interested to see how the 'Club' can justify it?
Sadly the two 'clubs' have a near monopoly and us 'suckers' have to put up with it because shure as hell the management don't give a toss about us.

This has all been discussed before, but it is said there is an increase in services, extra water, extra energy (in heating food and drink for example or extra electricals), extra waste, extra use of the facilities...
Also if you take a couple price for club site and then compare it to other comparable sites that charge for a couple it works out about the same. Some solo campers actually like the per person price as it comes in cheaper for them.
Also you've made a slight mistake in your calculation of the first person price, this includes the pitch fee and the price per person is the same for any person, first second or otherwise, so it's a pitch fee plus a (fixed) price per person. It's not a 50% increase per person.
On my favourite site which I'm going in November a pitch fee is £11.30 then £9.50 per person (plus SP of £5).
And the club does not have to justify it at all. The only person that has to justify anything it is the person paying.
And the two club clubs most certainly do not have a near monopoly or anywhere near it. This club has about 150+ sites, not sure about the other club, but even combined it must be less than 10% of (comparable) sites in the UK.
Suckers? well if one thinks the price isn't right and then one pays it, well I suppose so?

Roger, “Near monopoly” is nonsense. Sorry.

I wonder why all of a sudden folk are seeing a thread about charging per person and joining in, starting other threads and declaring it unjust/unfair/wrong/unethical….(delete as appropriate)
As far back as I can remember, site fees have always comprised of a price for the pitch plus a price per person.
If one looks at the price of the pitch fee plus that for one person, it amounts to an unrealistically cheap site fee for two people as has been said.
I wonder why if I buy a train ticket the company insists on charging for a second ticket for my OH rather than carrying us both for the one fee?🤔

I think it boils down to what you have paid in the past. The majority of our caravan holidays had been in France, where the pricing structure was akin to what ACSI is now. We got the pitch, two adults, awning, etc and electrics for a set price. When you move from this to another pricing structure it does seem strange.

Is the problem which seems to be confusing people, especially, I expect, newish members is that when you check the webpage for a site this is what you get:-
from
£20.00
Book a touring pitch
No indication on the site page of what the from price includes. Those more familiar with the booking system will know that the price quoted is the pitch fee plus one person but as can be seen you wouldn't know that until you start making a booking. The above was copied from the Morn Hill site.

Yes, one could argue that the headline price is a bit misleading, but only a bit. Once one knows it’s just a headline price, it’s easy to just ignore it, I do. As has been said, commercial sites generally quote for a pitch and two adults, the club does it differently, that’s all. One could argue that it’s a fairer system that doesn’t discriminate against lone travellers. Some folks have suggested that a second person doesn’t use that much water/electricity etc, but I look at it differently. I tend to regard the extra charge as payment for ones holiday/break, not just the services. As it happens, I think that prices are a bit high, there are plenty of other options out there that offer what I want at a keener price.

What has surprised me on the various threads (and Social Media) on the subject of pricing is how many people are wrong footed by it and don't understand the method the Club have used for years. Have we suddenly had a massive influx of new members who don't understand the system? I must admit I was a bit surprised when I came across what I quoted and I think it made me a bit more sympatric to those questioning the way the Club price sites because without some explanation you are assuming that people understand what the Club mean.
