It’s good to know you realise unforeseen circumstances might prevent the supplier honouring the contract, Simon. It’s common sense but I’m astounded the previous owners didn’t cover their backs by explaining that.

I see nothing to suggest that CAMC might let 'your' pitch on a first come, first served basis.🤷🏻‍♂️

Simon, I'm not sure if you're new to the club and CT but Rowena doesn't normally respond on here on matters like what you are asking for, she may not have even seen your post, although I'll be very happy to be proved wrong, she is the community manager and won't have the answers without (I assume) asking someone else.

To get the clarification you're after I would email the club direct, they are supposed to respond within a set time.

This isn't a new site, just new to the club. No doubt its been popular, and they'll be a sound business case for buying it.

Cornersteady. Thanks for your concern, but I have been a contributor to this forum for over 10 years.

I have noticed that Rowena has replied to queries many times in the past, so am surprised with your comment. In fact she has replied to previous questions of mine on other topics. Given that there are others that might be affected by my query, it would be helpful to have a public response.

However I accept the fact that I might have to raise my query with other club staff, so thanks for the link.

    Simon

Found in the Facebook discussion about the Club purchasing Lickpenny, in response to a question about existing bookings:

    'Existing bookings

If you have an existing booking for 2024/25, please rest assured this will be honoured and will not be affected by the change in ownership. Pitch allocations will remain as booked and all deposits have been transferred to the Caravan and Motorhome Club.'

    Hopefully that clarifies the situation.

Yes, that’s pretty much what it says on the Lickpenny website which is why I said camc were likely to only be covering their backs in case of something beyond their control. I thought you’d seen that.🤷🏻‍♂️

FWIW I just booked 5 nights there in September.  The very helpful lady on the phone (who had only just started there, though she seemed used to booking touring caravans sites - a CAMC employee drafted in maybe?) said that it would be running with the old / previous Lickpenny booking arrangements till the end of the year.  She took a deposit on my card, over the phone.

I would be sorry to see The Firs closing but having been there in August when occupancy was around 20% mid-week and about 60% at the weekend it wouldn't surprise me.

If Chatsworth closes then Poolsbrook is not a huge distance away.
