Steamer Quay
The Steamer keys site at Totnes is due to re open around October it is a non awning site, assume motorhomes will be able to pull out their sun canopy if they haven’t got a small car ?
All pitches are serviced and site has a small toilet/shower block.
All pitches are metered electric no mention of current costs per unit as a guide.
my question is what do members think of the pitch fees for 2 people without electricity being included of between £37.5 to £43.10 during June,July and August period.
regards

As Steamer Quay is not yet open and nothing much is known, you could be jumping the gun here.
I suspect the lease costs are very high at this site which is something to consider.

To me those prices seem perfectly acceptable given the location of the site. Probably more so for motorhomers than caravanners. I say that simply as its an easy walk into Town and you have good transport connections. It's probably not a site you would want to set up for two weeks, if you have a car it would probably be easier to use a site with more spacious pitches further away( perhaps Hillhead?) and use the car to visit. Even in March Ferry Meadows was £30 a night so the prices mentioned don't seem that much out of line for the main season.

A comparable site with SP comes in at £42.80 to £46.80 so a saving of about £5 to £4?
Is that reasonable, well yes to me as people wouldn't/shouldn't... be using that much electricity in August.
In January the prices are £33.60 and that's when people will have to get their calculators out (or the cub could do an online one) to work out if that is a saving for them or not as there will be higher heating costs and that has to come from somewhere.
Still reasonable? Well yes if I was wanting to be down there and use a club site. Location and quality beats prices every time for me. Others have to make their own minds up.
And yes this is a very indication of what metered prices will be, if anyone thought they would be lower they were sadly mistaken in my view.
I think the site will be popular and therefore the prices justified and any profit used for other club sites/refurbishments/other club services... or close more non EHU sites?

The whole point is that Steamer Quay is unique in being a full fac site with easy access into Totnes. The only other comparable location is the overnight parking in the nearby Longmarsh car park and that’s a chalk and cheese comparison.
Prices for sites in different areas are rather a red herring in this instance.

Hi tinwheeler
I have quoted the site fees currently being advertised on line for the periods I have stated.

OK, so I assume you mean 2025?
My comment about the cost of the lease stands and, in view of it being future prices, I don’t think they’re too foul.
Never mind, you wouldn’t want to be there now as Ecoli has been discovered in the River Dart at Steamer Quay!
