Use them or we’ll lose them
I don’t enter the discussion pages often but thought I would today.
I have just reviewed a site called Norwood near Wadebridge in Cornwall.
if you read my review you will get the gist of my concerns.
I am not trying to preach to anyone as we all have our preferences but it’s just food for thought.
Cheers

Why not tell us what it’s all about?

It is a CL, so this post should really be in that section. Can a moderator please put it in the correct section?
TW, the poster's review just pointed out that the site is being underused and so the owner may well think it is not worth the effort running it, if I read his review correctly.

Cheers Nellie. I suspect many of the reasons given for closure of the non-fac sites may apply. That is, miserable weather, school holidays and families generally seeming to prefer full facility sites.

I had the same story from a CL owner where we stayed recently, the occupancy of his site was down this year and it is a well maintained level site with electrics in a touristy area, no hard standings. There were just two of us there at £25 per night. The other outfit was a caravan. There was i thinking from the number of CL reviews that pop up on here that CLs where booming?

But ET, so long as it has electric and the grass is cut that is what we prefer to all the other extras.
I thought the whole idea of CLs was to provide somewhere small and quiet where a full blown site would never get planning permission.

My ideal CL site would have hard standings of a sort - not like Club sites, but reinforced grass, shingle etc and not necessary very wide - just enough for the van. And also well cut grass, easily accessible water tap, elsen point and either grey water into the hedges or an easily accessible drain I can run a pipe to. No electric needed.

We have found a lovely CS site that offers our favourite set up for Summer. Grass pitches (Sandy well draining soil), clean loos and a shower, fabulous views, good dog walk, wildlife, mile walk to village on footpaths/cycles, no hook ups. It’s £15 per night. It’s about three miles to Harlow Carr, Harrogate, Knaresborough.

We are currently on a CL where the grass is nice and short, there are grand views all around, no EHU, a tarmaced old railway track cutting the farm drive which is ideal for walking the dog and for cycling, and costs £10 pn. It is full and apparently has been since the weekend.

Sounds lovely Nellie👍

Would suit you down to the ground, not far from a river where pooch could get a good dip and just on the outskirt of a village, with a pub and a Co-op!

Perfect😁 Didn’t know you are back out again, looking forward to your next trip and photos. We are enjoying our personal “wild” swimming pool daily. Pooch isn’t allowed though.

Only set off yesterday, with just a couple of nights here before we go to another CL, a bit more expensive at £15pn, but it does have EHU!! I doubt there will be many photos this trip as we are meeting up with family, so it will be mainly around the van and out for a meal, but we might just find something of interest to photo.
