One object of dynamic pricing is to encourage people to book early at what might (or might not be) be a lower price. Therefore, the price at the point of booking is the price you ultimately pay with one or two provisos as detailed by Corners.

The club has to face the fact that the Covid camping bubble has burst and its is affecting the whole industry. Campsites, LV manufacturers, accessories etc all went into rippoff mode in the last few years. I'm sure many in the club find that club site prices are getting unaffordable as I do. The Clubs are now tinkering around with frankly unimpressive deals trying to fill empty pitches. Site fees need to be reduced significantly to tempt people back imo.

I note LV dealers are now discounting again one dealer near me cutting up to £7K off list price of caravans, thats nearly 25% and back to within a few % of pre covid prices indicating the level of profiteering that is being attempted post covid when material and shipping prices have largely retreated.

Anyone who has booked in advance for a site here in the southwest and is sitting in the rain must be pretty fed up at the moment.

There is no need to “secure your summer holiday”. or even pay the paltry £5. Every Club site in Devon and Cornwall has availability every night for the next four weeks. If the weather picks up folk can just come on down.

The Club is altering its booking deposit arrangements - but there is no need to book

Maybe, just maybe bad weather has an impact on our hobby, hence the availability of pitches you have observed in your area. Perceived high prices are not the only factor that affect bookings.

I just think the new situation is great, There’s no need to think within a 21 day timeframe, no need to try and get a weather forecast so far ahead, no need to wrestle with the booking app - members can just tour as they please - free and easy -come, go, stay, move on -  it’s just like pottering campsite to campsite in France. Touring without adavance booking is here in the UK.at long last.

I am not sure why they think reducing the deposit will encourage bookings.  Are the management living on a different planet and a dream world?  A £5 deposit is going to encourage speculative booking again as they can cancel within 21 days to get a full refund.

Effectively this will probably mean that those that want to book a 7 or more days will go elsewhere as weekends will be booked full.  We stopped using CAMC sites for this very reason however recently we had cause to book a CAMC at the last minute like for the same day and no issue.  Over the 7 days we stayed on the site, there were quite a few vacancies on site including the weekend.

As a result of the above we decided we would book 7 nights at New Forest, but Friday night is now full so we need to leave after 6 days, but I guess we were lucky to get the 6 days in mid-August.
