Why can't I change my avatar?

I've tried changing my avatar but it isn't working. I click on edit photo then click on the photo that I want to use. On the page it says that the photo has successfully been changed. But it hasn't. All there is is a black panel instead of the new photo. If I then go to my profile page again it still shows the old photo. What am I doing wrong?

    Have you cleared your cache?

Is the photograph too large in KB size?  May also be too large in pixel size. That would prevent you uploading it.

I've had the same problem as JohnM20 - the photo I'm trying to upload is thia one.

I've Cleared the cache and remembered to scroll down to the bottom of the profile page to "Save Profile" but still no luck.

Am I too missing something ?

I wonder if your picture is too large. When I view it in a new window its almost full size. Its only 300 KB but I think the pixel size might be too large?

Your current one is 559x447px and 72.4 KB, the rendered size (not quite sure what that means but perhaps the system automatically reduces it to?) is 160x128. The picture you added to your post is 756x1008px and 300kb in size so much larger than you existing one, if that helps?

David, I've now reduced the pixel size in stages down to 160 x 128 at 23 KB but still with no luck. Surely it doesn't need to be even smaller?

John, I sympathise with you,  David gave me some very good advice and I could not get my avatar to show. I even asked my son (who is an IT technician) to have a go, but no luck, have asked the clubs IT department twice for help. No reply.

I must admit I have never dared to change mine as so many people seem to have issues whilst others seem to be able to change theirs with no issue. I will report this thread just to see if Rowena can help.

John, the size you mention should be fine.

I'm so sorry you are all having issues with this. I have reported to the IT team.
