From memory of using the site a few times I think you would have to walk almost into Brockenhurst before you found a bus stop. The best way to check is to use Google Maps as it will highlight bus stops near to the site and even tell you the bus number so you can then check the timetable. There is a path into Brockenhurst that avoids using the road to the site but if you are concerned about mobility its still a fair walk of about a mile.

Unless there are any community buses the nearest bus stop is in Brockenhurst . We walked through the forest to Lyndhurst and caught the bus out of Southampton back. It’s about a 2 mile walk from the site. It’s closer to 2.5 miles to the station, from where you can get a train into Portsmouth. The plus side is, if your able, it’s a nice walk.

We love the New Forest and Black Knowle is a lovely site but as previously mentioned it is not that close to Brockenhurst. Yes, a nice walk but probably not for an evening meal in the village with a bottle of wine. The walk back would be extremely dark!!
