Booking Cancellation

We had a booking for Cayton Village for a 4 night stay for the new year and cancelled a couple of days ago due to the weather and predicted storms.

We rang the club to explain as this was inside the 21 day cutoff, the lady on the phone could not have been more helpful and fully understood, we have now been issued a voucher for the deposit we had paid to use within the next 12 months.

This is why we are sticking with the club even though some people are now saying they are overpriced, the customer service and understanding we believe are spot on, so this is a big thanks to the club and we are looking forward to more trips this year to club sites.

Thankyou 👍

    Sensible call by you.

Good customer relations from the club.

I have read that others haven't been so lucky in similar circumstances.  I can't claim to know anything more that what they or you have posted. One would hope they would be consistent.

Hi, just one thing to add, a named storm is a valid reason for cancellation we were told, this may help others going forward, I'm sure that there will be other valid reasons aswell 🙂

Rather than a voucher a refund back to the card would be preferred.

I think a complete refund would be counter productive to the idea of bringing in deposits, (which we all know by now so no need to be stated) so a voucher is a very good alternative in these circumstances especially as the OP is very happy with the result.  Good to know a named storm is an acceptable reason to 'cancel' by the club as well which also takes into account the safety of its members.

I am really pleased that you had such a good outcome. We were not so lucky. My husband broke his arm 11 days before we were due to go to chatsworth. He rang to explain that we would not be going as he could neither drive or set the caravan up. We requested a sites voucher but were refused any help!

I suppose we will never know what the Club guidance is on the matter of deposit refunds/vouchers? I have no idea whether it would make any difference but perhaps circumstances such as yours are better put in writing to the Club rather than by phone. I think with the OP's situation the Club are in a difficult situation because if they refused they would be condoning towing it what were possibly unsafe conditions?
