It would be mighty boring if they only listed what they’d had for breakfast, dinner and tea.

Don't they do that already surprised

Well, PD, since you brought the subject up, I thought I'd look back at the start of this thread and the first posts regarding outings in the van appear to be from December 2016! Have you not looked at the thread since then? wink

Anyway I think most folk (who post on this thread regularly) seem to use it for that purpose and are quite happily used to doing so now! 👍

"If they only listed…." I didn’t say they don’t do that already. Should have gone to Specsavers, PD. 😀

Incidentally, "General Chat - For topics not covered in other discussion areas and a place to chat."

What could be a more natural subject to chat about for folk with a common interest than where they are visiting as part of "What are you all up to"?👍🏻

peedee, since it's inception, 11 yrs ago,  that section has featured a huge variety of subjects concerning multiple aspects of our hobby, many of them asking for assistance on differing topics as well as like and dislike of touring. So it is a catch all section as stated in the first sentence you quoted, above.

This is certainly where I look to find out where chums are, as well as what others not away might be doing. Love the posts from all around the country, (and those overseas), get some great ideas for places to visit and enjoy the home and away photos. It’s about your day, whether home or away.

Hopefully back in my own bed tonight🤞

Hope your sister had a decent night's sleep, tda, and that she is soon able to get a hospital appointment for it's removal, amethyst that your mum had a good night too for your sake.

WN, we too made it back from our walk around part of the Sandringham estate, including the Arboretum before the rain started. It was on and off for much of the afternoon but has been heavy since around 5:00. yell Hope that it passes over before tomorrow.wink It is much cooler now too, down to 14 C outside, quite a change from 30+ C a couple of days ago.

Sorry Nellie, I've been searching for my hand knitted Merino woollen bed socks. I'm sure I packed some.smile

Supposed to have near 40mph winds until well into the night. Already gone out once to secure something banging. Bit exposed here but presumably you'll have tree noise etc.

Yes, best wishes from me as well Ttda for your sister. Your post seems to have "gone in one ear and straight out the other."

Out to visit friends at their house for a meal last night, we provided the pud, they opened a bottle of champagne which, along with the meal, was lovely.

Today we had lunch at Moreton Garden Centre, then on to Stow where OH browsed around the antique  Centre. Then walked on to Scott’s reduced item shop, just too tempting. We purchased a rechargeable battery operated lawn mower, reduced from £249 to £30, and a tumble composter, reduced from £70 to £20. Couldn’t resist. OH now napping and I’m off to take out some finished bedding plants from pots and replace with some viola plants.

Spent a lovely few hours with the Nellies' today.

Met up by the lighthouse at Hunstanton before having a walk along the beach and dunes. Back to town for fish and chips, ate al fresco sitting on a bench in the beautiful park. Only thing missing was the newspaper wrapper.laughing

They do keep a lovely parks garden there. Warm with a good amount of sunshine and a cool breeze to make sure it didn't get too hot.

Will hopefully meet them again at weekend when they move to NE Norfolk.

Your car meeting seemed to go well Francis. Where are you off to in Yorkshire?

Great to meet up with the WNs again and we enjoyed the walk, the company and in particular  the Fish and Chips....what whopping portions they were. Stopped off for a bit of shopping at Lidl on the way back. I took a wander around to have a look at the CC site in the late afternoon and it appeared to be still nearly full.

Here is the obligatory photo of the lighthouse at Hunstanton.

Sound like that might have been a few years back, Debsc.  The last time I had to 'use the facilities', it cost me 50p - and the machine didn't accept cards.  Woe betide anyone who didn't have the cash on them...  😀😀

Pleased to hear that the WNs and the Nellies had a good meet up in Sunny Hunny and also enjoyed the fish and chips.  Yes the parks are so well cared for - by volunteers I believe as a guy that OH used to work with at Perkins years ago now lives there and helps out. Did you see the lovely little memorial to the American soldiers who helped out when there were the floods there in 1950?

Yes David, our son is 51 now and it certainly costs more than a penny now. Never dreamt then that we would one day be paying to use a public loo by card!

Travelling down the A1, it's raining.

Had a good night last night with our son and DIL. Their new house is big and lovely, went out for a pub meal all very good. Stayed on a CL just a mile from them, ideal.

Now heading to the CCC site at St Neots. Hope the rain stops.

    TG

Not raining in MK yet which is not far from St Neots, although the sky is cloudy now. I think the weather is going west-east so maybe it will be dry to set up?

    Love the alternative parking CS.

Spent the morning at Cley Nature Reserve, enjoying just pootling around. We took a few photos of various wildlife that I've posted in the What have you seen thread. After lunch we had a stroll over the fields to Salthouse and a welcome half sitting in the sun in the Dun Cow.

Hope you've arrived safely. I read your post over lunch but didn't reply as I wanted to finish off garden work in case you brought the rain with you! As we're not far way. Had I known you were coming down before I'd have suggested at stop off and meet up at junction 16 🤣, well our house. Have a great time we like St Neots, not been since we moved up, apart from to check out the guided bus station. Must recifity that very soon.

Thankfully we've been dry, but did have a few mist spots aftercrwadibg your post which came to nothing.  Hope you didn't bring it with you all the way.

House almost completely licked into shape and garden getting there. I'm enjoying preparing for our 2nd winter in this garden. The weather's been perfect the last couple of days. Warm enough to work without getting too hot.

Next job is to cut the runner beans to ground level 😢 and remove canes. They've kept going very well, my favourite veg, providing us neighbours and family. Tomatoes coming to an end, again great crop, shared and lots frozen. Now I'm going to have to remember to buy fresh veg 🤣. They seemed to have thrived on neglect! I foolishly unnetted my brassica and have sacrificed them to caterpillars. I've replanted under cover so hope to harvest in the bear future. We had no problem with cabbage whites last year.

Home or away stay safe and enjoy.

We were there a few weeks ago. A lovely walk along the river into town. I don’t know if you’ve been before, but one has to cross the two small bridges then turn right 👍

Millie, I spotted as we were walking back to the cars but there were a group of other people reading the inscriptions so didn't want to intrude so just carried on past. Next time we visit I will make a determined effort to view it.

More essential shopping this morning before driving round to Castle Rising and a walk round the castle itself. Then back to Ling Common to give Flyte a decent walk ing the woods there. Back to the site to pack up what we could before our move to the N&S DA rally for the Norfolk Railway's 40's Weekend, which should be "interesting"!
