how are we all getting on with the wonderful new premium Wi-Fi service? We paid the £5 and are currently on Knaresborough on a fairly full site. We’re trying to watch Coronation Street, not a huge ask, but it’s buffering and the picture is fuzzy on the TV.
it frustrates me that in this day and age, we are still struggling to get an acceptable Internet connection, especially when we’re close to a town!
I think CAMC and BT can do better. I won’t be paying anymore money just yet!!

I recently used the 'free' one hour service and it was fine...I logged back in after being logged out and picked up where I left off. I didn't try streaming buy every other sort of browsing and email collection was fine.
IMHO there's no need at all (perhaps without trying streaming first) to use the
Premium service at whatever price.Other than clicking back in, it was an endless, robust system...the club has missed a trick here and after trying the free service I don't see folk paying for something more.

When I tried the free system YT it was limited to a maximum of 1 Mbs and that was on a half empty site. Although it was good enough for general browsing and even street view, if you waited a few seconds for the image to sharpen, there was no way it would support streaming.
I think the main target of the premium service are those that want to use it for online films and TV and don’t have sufficient data to support this. We have a fairly large allowance but at around 1 Gb an hour, it would soon be used up if I used it for more than the odd Grand Prix, for which it is sufficient. I can’t see us making general use of it, but for those on there annual holidays I doubt the cost would be a factor.

I've no idea of the speed of the service, not really interested....what I was interested in was how well it worked, which was surprisingly well. I use street view a lot but didn't notice any real issue with the service.
id recommend trying it first before diving in to pay.

Sorry but are you advocating that the club should charge or should have charged for this basic service?
How many posts in the past have there been about having to pay for wifi when other providers offer it for 'free' must run into quite high double figures? In fact I recall it's often something you yourself highlight (free wifi) on other non club sites, apologies if I recall incorrectly
Surely now the wifi is 'free' at least at the basic level for those on club sites so I see that as a positive especially as you describe such a good service.

When I'm regularly getting speeds like this using a TP Link router and EE sim card which costs me £50 for 120Gb which lasts about a year (away at least 1 week every month) - browsing / emails and some TV streaming - I shan't be bothering with the Club's offering. Plus I know my connection is much more secure.

Any chance of a link to the EE website page where that card is available. I can only find monthly deals at the £50 for unlimited and I've read it as your £50 worth lasts until you've used it all up. Am I wrong?

The club are doing it, they are providing “free”, well inclusive in the price, basic Wifi to the pitch at 115 sites. In addition there is an optional paid for service which allows streaming.
I don’t know wether the WiFi on those three sites you mention was good enough for streaming. However, provision for 5 pitches is somewhat easier than the typical club campsite. My home fibre to the cabinet broadband, at 70 Mbs, would be adequate for that.

I thought the Club did offer a free WiFi but only for a limited speed which is fine for general browsing, emails and most Social Media. It's only if you want more that to pay a premium. It should be added that it is far easier for a CL to provide a WiFi connection covering five pitches than a site with 100 pitches which needs more specialist equipment which is costly.

Well a few fairly obvious things it has to be said, setting up a wifi equipment and costs on a five pitch site might be different to one ten times that size, or even 20 or 30 times?
One CL's site is usually owned by one person/business while the club has 150+ sites to deal with.
And of course it's not 'free'.
But the club is doing it in terms of 'free' provision, albeit slowly.

I would have thought that if having a reliable WiFi service that allowed you to access the services you need was that important to you then you would provide your own WiFi Router and a SIM card from a Telecomm provider.
We used a Netgear router when we were working and away in the MH and never had any connectivity issues, also used the router as a backup at home when the the home service was down.

I agree. I read a review not too long ago and someone was complaining that they may have lost their house sale/purchase due to not being able to talk to someone face to face over the internet, due to the poor wifi on one of the sites and wondered why they would rely on a caravan site's wifi for something so important?

Colin - yes - that's it. Argos seem to be the only ones selling it at the moment. I've just bought one. I have a funny feeling that they are such good value that EE and BT no longer sell them and Argos possibly have old stock. Still works, though - I put my new one in on Tuesday.
Just seen your previous question - it lasts a full year - or until you have used the data. You then have two choices - either top it up - or buy a new one. It's cheaper to buy a new one and that's what I have done. I'm now on my third.
As I said - we are away every month for a week and at Easter / August for two weeks or more. I use it every day we are away for general internet use but quite a few evenings - especially in winter - it's powering the smart TV. My last one lasted a year, almost to the day - so it's pretty cheap internet, plus you have the advantage that you're not wasting money by paying a monthly contract and not using it all the time.

I'm not IT savvy so I've been looking into my options when my landline broadband contract with Plusnet comes to an end next year and have a plan.
3 do a 4G Unlimited Broadband package with a mi-fi router that includes 4 ethernet ports, so I can also hard wire this into my home booster set up. It will link with TV, Firestick, Tablet, Laptop, Phone etc.
When we go away in the UK I do not need to worry about wi-fi as I simply unplug it, take it with me and plug it into the caravan. I do not need to link any devices up to a new broadband supply as they are already linked. Reviews of the router they supply are very good. So the solution is easy to operate and costs £22 a month with the first 3 months free.
For abroad, I could get the well reviewed TP Link 4G mobile router https://www.johnlewis.com/tp-link-m7350-4g-lte-mobile-wi-fi-router/p3129652 and a monthly data only Smarty SIM car. The 15GB for £9 would probably suffice as it includes roaming, which as it's capped at 12GB, so no use in buying anything larger. https://smarty.co.uk/all-plans#data-only

I would think so as long as you don’t have any devices such as cameras, alarms central heating controllers that you want to monitor while away. We keep an eye on home via doorbell and interior cameras, these require an active router.0 -

Does anyone know if its possible to use a wifi ranhge extender like the tp-link RE605x with the BT Premium access points when parked away from an aerial?
