Having booked the ferry to Dieppe for Sept 12th, I am now about try and book some campsites, this is the first one to catch my eye....la ferme - Campsite in Lion-sur-Mer Calvados.

We want to be situated fairly central to visit the D Day beaches......Has anyone got a better site?

Do you have a caravan or motorhome?

If you want something central you need to be more towards Bayeux. The site mentioned is just about in the middle of Sword, the eastern most of the invasion beaches. We quite like the municipal in Bayeux itself, (although there is some road noise if that’s an issue)  last time we visited it was in the ACSI discount scheme. It’s fairly easy to get to all the beaches from there and Bayeux itself can be explored on foot from the site. Utah is a bit out on a limb, we last visited that on our way back to Cherbourg for the night boat home. However, unless you particularly want to book, there shouldn’t be any problem just turning up in mid September.

We are in a motorhome,  my wife likes to know where is staying in advance,  so just turning up is a non starter.

    Many thanks for your replies.

There's a Camping-Car Park aire at LION SUR MER and one at the CAMPING-CAR PARK area of Utah Beach, La Madeleine.  Between them they cover most of the area.

Unfortunately to book them in advance you would have to buy the privileges pack which costs €29.
