Centralised rubbish points
Staying on the Willingcott site I discovered that the rubbish bins had been moved from the service points to a centralised area near reception.
A fellow camper informed me that he had seen this happening on other club sites.
Is this a new policy being rolled out ?
Perhaps people would care to comment on this thread with a simple :
a. I don't like it OR
b. I don't mind.

Can I please add a further option, Chelty?
C. : I prefer it.
My preference is, C, I prefer it.
Quieter all round. We never, ever selected a pitch anywhere near the rubbish bins, and don’t mind taking our bags of rubbish / recycling to the main collection point near to reception.🙂

But we've always pitched away from service points.

I don’t really care. Marginally less convenient having bins at the entrance, but that is only because we have a bin in the van for general waste, got rid of when full, and the recycling tends to go on the floor near the door. We would usually get rid of that each time we had some, so by the entrance maybe too far to walk. So we just get rid when we take the van out.

Is that Chapel Lane, David? I’ve not been there for a few years.

All club sites, well the ones I've been on, have a various recycling bins for various items and have done for a few years. Nothing new

It's still the exception to have a one central bin as in the OP's site and I've not come across the practice yet, but won't mind if it becomes the norm.
It wasn't introduced during the pandemic on any of the sites I used.
And the amount of rubbish will still be the same of course to be moved out of the site.

Definitely a positive move👍🏻. I’m sure it will help with the positive attitude overall.

It must be more efficient from a staffing point of view to have centralised rubbish points. It could also be to do with how the rubbish is collected and whether sorting is required. Just spent a few days at the C&CC site at Cambridge and they have a row of large wheeled bins behind the toilet block. Everything goes in the same bin and I assume is sorted at the refuse depot. Mr Biffo comes along from time to time to empty the full bins, minimum involvement by site staff.
I am always amazed at the amount of rubbish created on campsites? I have also noted when bins are available at service points with clear instructions on what rubbish to put in what bin that people totally disregard these instructions which I assume creates more work (and not very pleasant work) for site staff? Centralised collection saves a lot of double handling and surely it can't cause that much inconvenience to take your rubbish to a central point as you are passing?

Chelty, it’s not new. I first saw the centralisation of rubbish collection on some CAMC sites around 5-6 years ago and certainly well before the pandemic. It’s been discussed here in the past too with a warden explaining a few things such as the provision of a low level bin for those unable to hoist up the lids on the skip-like bins.
As for placement, I see no issue at all with centralising collection points at facility blocks (eg Malvern) but those bins sited way out on a limb at the entrance (eg C&CC Scone) sometimes make life difficult for less able folk.

I am with Pliers, C. Prefer it.

We don't mind, as long as it is not those tall ones with the very heavy lids that need to be lifted. CCC have had them for several years, but do seem to be getting more user friendly ones these days.
We have bought a couple of decent size folding bins with tight fitting lids as the one on the door of our van is rather minimalistic. When just us, we keep one bin in a convenient corner for general rubbish, and use the caravan one for recycling. When the family are there we have the awning up so use both folding bins out there, they hold quite a lot so take 2-3 days, at least, to fill.
We usually drop refuse off on our way out of the site.

If this innovation is successful in getting members/paying customers to take all rubbish and recycling to a central point surely the next step is to provide only one chemical disposal point, followed by there being a single drain and one tap.

b. I don`t mind
It is also a cost saving measure if you add up the amount of black & clear bags used by every site & the diesel used by the tractors it will be a fair amount

That’ll be someone in China so CAMC will help the planet by not having them transported around the world.👍🏻

It’s a b & c from me

Course it will and added to not importing bins we'll see CAMC saving the planet single handed 😄

Evening
So central bin points then. For clarity that was never introduced during covid, back then it was all about social distancing not encouraging people to gather.
We don't use plastic dustbins.
Willingcott site is a 150 pitch site with 5 service points (I've worked there before and helped build the new bin point this year). During a normal summer season, emptying the bins twice daily will use approx. 90 bags which in todays terms would cost around £70 per week.
It's another of many trials to see how having a central point goes on sites and so far 4 months on it has been very well received.
I will be adopting it next year.

You are the myth buster JK👍🏻. It’s proving to be a super power that is used for good. No one else on the CAMC payroll seems interested in nipping the ‘CAMC bashing’ in the bud. It seems to me a good way to prevent the attacks becoming the usual epidemic👏🏻👏🏻
