Turiscampo, Lagos, Algarve
Does anyone have experience of this site. We are going there in the spring and are wondering if it is worth taking our bikes. We are not very confident cyclists and try to keep to bike tracks and bike lanes. As far as I can tell from Google Earth most journeys to nearby towns and beaches will be on the road. (We have been spoiled by our trips to the Loire and the Landes regions where there are superb cycling networks)

As other have said, it probably depends on your own confidence level..we did cycle into Lago a couple of times and westwards to Burgau where you can use the M537 which isn't too busy, perhaps give it a try and see how it goes.
you're right though, we get spoiled in many parts of France and Spain with super quiet roads and tracks but if you have a car then you'll be fine...

Hi.
I know this discussion was about cycling, but I’m hoping some of you can help me with regard to the best pitches on the site, in terms of location/space etc. I’ve looked at reviews on other sites and whilst most are good , others say that there are some small pitches which wouldn’t accommodate a mid sized van. I have a swift challenger 540…. 7.19 metres long.
I’m considering booking a 6-8 week holiday , early next year, maybe from mid feb. Not sure about the weather there at that time, and if staying for a longer period I’d like a decent pitch.
Any of your experiences , recommendations and advice is welcomed.thanks

Hi Caroline
We are on Turiscampo now, its a fantastic site, the 3 flower pitches are great with water, drainage and ehu and very accessible as is the site. We have an 8 metre motorhome and our pitch was very easy to access and is level. We would return here for.sure! Hope that makes you feel more confident about it!

Thank you so much for your replies. Nice to have a heads up about the windy side…. I like my sun 😂. As you say, I’ve checked the caravan club site and there is no availability , although I’m retired so I’m flexible on dates. Will look at Yelloh village to see if there is any joy there.
I’m a recent widow and haven’t had the van out for years , as I was nursing a very sick Hubbie .. now it’s time to start life again on my own , solo towing in my 60’s…. Quite daunting and I need a safe site.
will let you know how I get on. Thank you0
