Thetford oven problem
The oven lights perfectly ok but as soon as I release the gas knob the flame goes out any suggestions please ?
it’s only 2 yrs old and the hob and grill work ok and I can stand there holding the knob in for 10 minutes but it’ll still go out on release.

It’s very likely to be the thermocouple. Sometimes it’s only a case of it having been bent out of shape.

Ok thanks, it’s due a service beginning of August so might have to go without the oven until then unfortunately as it’s not something I want to attempt myself .

If you use the oven quite a lot you may find that the burner flame is not warming the probe of the thermocouple due to debris in the holes,so a quick blast with an air line or remove and clean the burner (single screw) and check that the flame is warming the probe.Simple 10 minute job.

Just check to see that there is nothing blocking the air vent below the oven, as that would stop oxygen from getting so causing the gas to go out.

Took Dave the rave’s suggestion and used an old toothbrush on the holes and all seems fine atm 🤞🙏🏻

Hopefully that was the problem and as I always say......check the simple things first!
