Fishing since allowed after Lockdown has really taken of at the two venues I use . Only had one blank day, usually had weights between 4lb to 30lb.

Not a fisherman myself but know the site and it's very nice. There is also a CL attached to it and have stayed on this several times over the years. as it's handy for the Ouse washes. CL is on grass, last time we were there anyway.
I know the shop have a bigger stock of fishing gear and bait than everyday vittels.

Can anyone recommend a good site in the NW? I've been to quite a few good ones but I'm looking for one that has elec pitches for the camper, and more importantly, be allowed to have my dog with me while fishing

Had my first day of this year yesterday.
went to my local pond didn’t expect a lot as the water is very very deep , so very cold this time of year. Only had 4 bites caught 2 skimmers around 2lb on maggot so not water licked.

OH was out with the EA last week as they were restocking our local river. He was out yesterday evening pegging local ponds for a match today, so up early and away for some fishing this morning. The ponds are on a nice camp site called Thorney Lakes not far from us, a pleasant green site on the Somerset Levels. They have outdoor events there too so anyone staying needs to check for festivals, which are usually low key and rural.

Had some fantastic days at my local pond , over the last month. Caught Bream, Skimmers, Roach, Rudd, Tench, and Perch, weights must have been in the mid twenties. All on maggot, corn and bread.

Don’t have too much knowledge of course fish, why are they called that I wonder? However, isn’t a skimmer just an intermediate form of the bream? Like brown trout are to sea trout, rainbow to steel head and jack pike to pike. I was once told by an angler that skimmers are generally young bream but some close to maturing can breed.
Fascinating to know that those course fish mentioned, along with perch and others, can all be found in the Baltic Sea, even in areas of higher salinity. They also were once found in the higher reaches of the Humber Estuary but not many these days by all accounts as it is pretty much devoid of all fish due primarily to pollution. About time we sorted our rivers and coastal waters out me thinks.0 -
I understand Coarse as in Coarse Fishing means the freshwater fish that are not used for food ( nowadays ) are defined as Coarse. Hope this Helps
