....the bagpipes were a bit of an 'event'!! Quite a few walked up to the 'football field' where he was playing. To start with, we thought it was some background sound on the TV. After we switched the TV to mute, and realised it wasn't, we opened to door of the van for the full effect.. 🤣🤣

Another glorious sunny day here. I've been having my own holiday - doing nothing more strenuous than sitting in the sun (or summerhouse) and reading books I first read 50 years ago. Then coming in half an our before dinner and plonking food on the table. It's even too hot for the cat, who has retreated to the Montbretia. He's there somewhere!

Silaging is done and dusted, so son amd grandson are busy spreading the liquidy brown stuff that will make the grass grow again. Our daughter in law (a teacher) is off school, so I only have OH to feed. He is busy doing all the other little jobs that have been ignored while we were busy. So the time's my own! More or less. I musy go and get the cold beef, bread and salad on the table.

Indeed. Llantysilio is on the walk we do when walking up from Llangollen to the castle then across the countryside to Valle Crucis Abbey and then we drop down to the River Dee via Llantysilio and the Chainbridge and from there back to town alongside the river. Have to give you details if you intend going.
Not a great deal happening today. Ladies outside planting. They've had to soak the soil in the back garden as it is rock hard. Front is soft and workable but it is always damp in one corner so they bought some plants that like boggy places. Im in between cleaning the cooker. Waiting for the liquid cleaner to soak in. We use Lakeland's oven cleaner. I use "We" in its loosest sense.

Was trawling back thru some old photies and came across this one and thought, where is the H&S aspect of the work being done, answer, there never was any, these guys used to cover approx 700 pitches in 2 weeks with netting to protect us from the sun, they clambered over MH's, caravans even some tented areas on ladders that wobbled and shook and of course in Temps of 35+, and no doubt earned a pittance, but they were always cheeky and cheerful.

The barely drizzle we had earlier has gone. Need rain but we're suffering and not getting any benefit! Enough to settle the dust, make your boots wet through the meadow and gather plenty of soil in the field. That'll be our fault as we filled the waterbutt with the hosepipe yesterday as the little rain we have had didn't even come up to tap level...
So chilly, the boiler has just fired up and we can see the white vapour 🥶

sorry but just back from my swim in the Solent 21 degs wall to wall sunshine and in case you missed it from maybe 5 days ago here it is again and it has been like this since whenever now.

Don't rub it in. We had 6 good days - 20th - 25th just crept into the late teens but cool wind. Since then grey grey grey, colder winds.
Monday the window cleaner came. His words it's not cool it's cold. He changed out of his shorts before setting out!

Firmly pitched on site and the weather is absolutely fantastic, blue skies and warm enough to sit out with a glass of Lambrini (we know how to push the boat out)

I know how you feel we used to live north of Aberdeen, I lost count of the number of times family would send us photies of the Solent sat outside the beachhouse showing 22 degs, and we were sat in the Haar, at 12 degs, but i always wore shorts, but it is a thing i have re trousers rubbing on my scars from knee replacements, now only wear trousers for very very special occasions, but always promised my OH that we would live on the shores of the Solent, or as close as possible, and we do

Did get upto 27C today but now 15.2C due to a heavy thunderstorm and so far the rain is 28mm and more forecast tonight but dryer tomorrow as friends coming over and we are out for lunch as our Bistro in the village has reopened so will see what is it like.
OH had been sorting the Front door lock out got a new one but having fun to fit it and decided as weather was changing glad he did no sooner than back inside after all tools down to his shed it poured down and some hail.

Oh it’s so nice when I can join in, it’s lovely here in Devon, a bit cloudy first thing but sunny now. Not often we can say this, it’s usually cloudy, raining or a sea mist when everyone else has blue skies. Stained all the decking railings today, found an old pot of stain, not enough to do the decking floor so that will have to wait for another day. Then a bit of cutting back in the garden. Then a glass of wine in the sunshine. Problem is the water butts are almost empty, will soon have to resort to tap water, with South West Water prices that will hit the bank balance.

Has been overcast all day in the SW Midlands, although warm at times and the easterly wind has dropped. Moved up from Ross to Hanley Swan to the C&CC site, which is about half full, but the wardens expect it to much quieter come Sunday when the families that are on here go home.

NH you are on my old stomping ground the Malvern area and the some of the building on the site are from WW2 and the Americans were based there as my late mother used to date 1 or 2 of them ha ha, always remember that area as Blackmore and of course the other club site is now Malvern Hills, enjoy your time there plenty of walking around the hills and Little Malvern Priory not far from where you are staying.

It has been very sunny here recently, so we have been heating our hot water cylinder via our recently fitted solar immersion diverter, instead of sending all our excess generation to the grid. No need to use any gas at all at present, and the water is very hot.
We have 16 x 250w panels on the roof and generate around 3300kW annually.

we have 16 pannels 250w, generating between 25 - 30 kw per day just now, dont have the capability to heat water, but we are averaging about £1.50 per day for gas and £1 for electricity that we take from the grid, my only gripe with solar, is that 10 years in the invertor went AWOL and it cost me £750 for a new invertor fitted, we have one of those contracts with the government whereby they pay us lots of money for feeding lecce back into the grid, so my original £5k investment has been worth every penny.

For those who have been kind enough to ask - an update on Ros. Got the results of the MRI scan this morning and it turns out she has fractured her pelvis in three places. No wonder she is in such pain. Fortunately, the breaks are not 'displaced' so surgery isn't required and all that she can do is to let the fractures heal on their own - but that's going to take at least 8 weeks.
I have to say that I'm absolutely disgusted with our NHS GP practice - which if we had previously relied upon, still wouldn't have come up with a definite diagnosis. On the advice of the private GP, I went down there, late this morning, to try and arrange an appointment for her - with our GP - to discuss pain management and a host of other issues the private GP recommended.
Despite emphasising that she has three pelvic fractures and giving them a copy of the Radiographer's report, I was told the first available appointment was 13th June unless I queued up at 8am tomorrow - outside the surgery - to see if I could get one of the available appointments they would release in the morning. Past experience has shown that by the time you eventually get to speak to the receptionist, all they do is announce that all today's appointments have gone!
What an earth has this country come to.

Tough luck on Ros, Richard. Have to say the service you have received from your GP has been pretty disgusting and the least they could have done was prioritised an appointment for her. I assume you'll be taking the matter further with the Health Board. Good luck.

That’s utterly appalling R&R. First, thank goodness you now have a diagnosis and can move forwards, and I hope that the required rest and pain management will lead to a total recovery for Ros. I find your GP surgery attitude appalling. Are you unable to get past the reception team? I would start to make records of all your dealings with the surgery, and consider a formal complaint once you have get the treatment required for Ros. I’d be looking to move GP surgery as well. Hope you get the help you need asap. All I can say is that it is a world away from the help, care and commitment we have been getting from our GP for my Mum.

I did wonder whether she had broken her pelvis as it sounded so painful. 3 places! No wonder she is in such terrible pain. What dreadful 'service' from your GP. It makes me realise how lucky we are with ours. What will you do now as Ros obviously needs some pain management? Can the private GP help? You shouldn't have to go down that route though. And it shouldn't be up to the receptionist to make that sort of decision. Absolutely appalling.

It is dull and very chilly here in the east. In fact despite being told that the week was going to be dry we woke up yesterday to find that it had rained most of the night. It is 'winter woolly' time here.2
