Portugal in January

I want to spend a month on the Algarve in January 2024.   Can anyone recommend a route from Calais with at least three overnight stops on route?  Will probably be staying at Touriscampo.

With a caravan and staying at sites open in winter.

    Day 1 Calais - Tours

    Day 2  Tours - Urrugne

    Day3 Urrugne - Aranjuez

Day 4  Still a long drive to Lagos

But using motorway service stations overnight gives a wider choice. And motorhomers have great choice of other Aires.

Its a while since I did this trip but adding a bit more information to ET's post from the French/Spanish border I would head for Burgos, Valladolid and Salamanca. In Salamanca night stop at Camping Regio then onto Badajoz and Evora night stop at Camping Evora before heading for Lagos. If you have the time both these night stops are worth staying at a little longer to visit Salmanca and Evora.

Thanks for this folks.  Really helpful.  I take it the stopover campsites are open all the year round?  We can take our time travelling so the suggested extended stopovers sound good!

The other possibility could be the Portsmouth Santander ferry. What is the best route to Lagos from Santander and how many overnight stops would you recommend on the route?

We have recently stayed a few nights at Larrouleta, it has the most helpful people on reception who are all multi-lingual.....

We visited San Sebastian via bus & train, €5.50 return

Worth factoring in if you have time.....
