What are you all up to

Yes brue We booked ours online as well and like you we found there were far fewer 'jab' centres and none of the usual chemists but we got them done. Like you as well the walk in centres were 50 miles away or more. The nearest they offered us was Birmingham!! I think it is best to look online and get the jabs booked that way.

We had our last vaccination nearly a month ago now. When I heard they would be available I just went onto the NHS website and booked our appointments at the Open University. All quick and easy. The vaccination centre wasn't as busy as it had been on past visits but that might have been down to the limitations as to who was eligible for the vaccine? Interestingly we have never heard a peep from our doctors surgery about any of the vaccinations, we have always taken the initiative to get them sorted.

We have efficient GPS who mail us promptly.and run Saturday sessions locally.

Unfortunately the GPs are not doing them this time.

Some medical centres are being used in our area but our local one isn't taking part so as said the bookings are arranged via the NHS Web site.
A nice hot day here unfortunately the farmer was out spraying earlier on, just over the hedge from us, so we stayed inside for awhile. All clear now! Have been sorting out things in the garden, everything has got behind this year due to the cold start.

MiL says she has just had a letter for her booster on 1st.June. She didn't have to ring.
Had a day out in Scarboro today as it was such a beautiful day, albeit with an occasional nippy breeze coming in off the sea. Walked from near the TEC on the south bay side to the Castle. Fortunately we were quite early so town not packed but busier on the way back.
Wouldn't like to stay at the Grand Hotel in Kittiwake breeding season. For those that don't know, the Kittiwakes make their nest on window ledges or balcony posts an, whilst they are usually quiet birds outside of breeding season, they definitely are not in season. Plus they obviously leave quite a lot of momentos of their stay. Your very own alarm call at first light to boot.
Couple of photos.

A blue cloudless skywhen we got up and that continued for most of the day. Paid a visit to Caerleon, just outside Newport. Had a walk around the Roman Amphitheatre and Wall, the Barracks and the Roman Baths. Omitted going into the museum as it was very warm in the car and didn't want Flyte to be in there for long. Had another walk along the Usk Way path on the way back to the van.
The photos are of the Amphitheatre, with the goddess Minerva in the seat of honour!!, a couple in The Roman Baths exhibition, and the layout of the Barracks.

There were also these impressive carvings in the community field adjacent to the Roman Walls.

Didn't see any carvings on my trip over to Anglesey -- my first 'steam' outing of the year -- whoo hoo !! but did see rather a lot of Brillo being applied to rags and then parts various of some gorgeous steamers . Most definitely added a glow to the sunshine !!

The good weather continues, so does silaging. The view from the tractor and Forage Wagon picking up, chopping and carting the grass back to the pit.

Lovely view Goldie regardless 🤣. Now the long hours need to be put in on top of day to day jobs!
We had a lovely family day yesterday. Just missing the Kiwi crew for the full set 😢. Sun shone all day 😍 3 dogs, 3 children under 5 and the adults all played nicely. Essex crew detour to join M11, planned closure at Stansted entry which they knew about and then held up by a fatal accident on a14 just past the A1 exit so an hour less together time.
Lovely morning again, I've had my breakfast outside for the 1st time this year. Sun is lovely, wind is chilly again and getting stronger and coming around the corner 😕.
We've booked a few days away in Helmsley - thank you takethedogalong, with son and grandson in August. Leaving mummy to do her own thing during harvest. Be nice to spend quality time together.

Great photos NH and those sculptures are amazing and glad you are enjoying your trip, and that you have good weather.
Dry here yesterday with some sun but not as clear as UK, a few chores outside a bit of garden tidying for me and OH putting a new flyscreen in the bedroom window as the old one had finally broken and had been repaired before twice, no outside work today it is pouring down and more for the next few days shame as the next village to us are having a boot sale today and thought we would go not now though, hope it is dry next Sunday as a larger village is having a boot sale classic cars and motorbikes plus a craft exhibition so could be interesting.

Another beautiful day here, set to reach 23c apparently. It got very warm yesterday in the sunshine. Enjoying everyone’s photos, holidays, work in Goldie’s case. Short day at Mum’s for me today🤞 Taking more home grown plants up, then back to continue a bit of weeding at home.

It's just lovely to see green grass and blue skies Goldie, hope you all have a good day getting the work done.
Nellie, I don't know how many times we've driven past the Caerleon signs and not seen the actual place, such interesting photos, we must make time for a visit there!
Another sunny start to the day here, we had an early walk and now OH has taken a recently widowed neighbour to the VSSC Wiscombe hill climb, a perfect day for it. Both of them used to take part so they will be meeting up with old friends.
My sister has sent photos from Chinon in France of an outdoor brass band competition, I was half expecting to see brass bands like "ours" but over there it all looks a bit different, especially the attire...I expect RK has seen or heard something similar?!
Glad you had a nice day with the family B2 and have managed to book a break in Yorks.
Also ABM on Anglesey for the steam event.
Have enjoyed hearing about the WNs travels and was pleased to hear you can proceed much as before.
I bought a few plants at our local plant sale yesterday but the event was much smaller due to everyone finding it harder to grow things on this year. Usually I contribute but couldn't get stuff ready in time. OH bought some carrots as his seedlings haven't grown but he later worked out that 29 seedlings for £2 probably wasn't worth it. Anyway I'm sure they'll taste nice...!
Today it will be zilch, just some sewing when my eyes straighten out after a migraine visitation.
Hope the week ahead goes well for everyone and the good weather lasts.

Yes brue we have seen French brass bands as you say very different, we have fond memories of Chinon stayed there a few times over the last 35 years.
Supposed have no rain now but still raining outside just hope it is not too bad where tammygirl is, looking better from next weekend sunny and upto 27C which is more like May that we know but at least the plants are getting watered and everywhere looks lush and green but did notice when we were out for a picnic last week that the Oak Processionary Moth Caterpiilars have started to attack the leaves of an oak forest such a shame to see bare trees although the trees will produce a second lot of leaves but a lot smaller just hope we do not have any around here.

Redkite, we had a great day out yesterday and no rain.
Got packed up and away this morning just as it started phew! We had rain, mostly light all the way up to Vezac, then it dried up just as we arrived on site. All setup with view of the river and the sun is out now, only weak sun but it's better than rain. Forecast is for thunderstorm in the next few days then good hot sun after that. For the first time in 3 weeks we have been able to pick up BBC on the satellite dish. Site WiFi is free and we can stream Netflix on it but not ITVX or BBC they seem to require much more data than Netflix. Was going to use it to catch up on missed programmes, will try the laptop as that worked on our site in the Med.
Good to hear everyone's news and travels. Nice to hear that weather is getting better to.
We also got emails each from NW, nice of them to gives some spending money for our hols 😅😅
Shopping will be required in the next couple of days, I think Sarlat is the nearest with decent sized shops.

So glad that your trip is going so well WN. As you say unimaginable 5 months ago, so well done, great news. Like you after I had my minor stroke 18 months ago I had a goal. I really wanted to get back to my volunteering at the Cathedral. After 8 weeks I managed to get back to my Welcoming duties and after 4 months I was able to resume my tours of the Cathedral. Everyone there was so kind and helpful. I still have to pace myself as I can get very tired and when tired (or stressed) I get headaches, but it is lovely to get back to a 'normal' life. I hope the rest of your trip goes well.
Lovely photos NTH. It is a part of the country that I am not very familiar with so it is great to see your photos.
So pleased that your family visit went so well bakers2. And now you have a family holiday to look forward to. Such a lovely part of the country.
I hope tammy's trip is going well now that they have altered their travel plans. Italy looks to be having a terrible time at the moment.
I hope you got home safely brue. I remember those Devon lanes from when we used to holiday there many years ago. No caravan in those days but they were still 'fun' in the car!
We had a nice afternoon yesterday as eldest son and DIL had a BBQ as the weather was so good. It is eldest grandson's 16th birthday tomorrow but as he in in the middle of his GCSEs they decided to celebrate yesterday. When I asked how his exams were going they reply was 'OK'. A teenager of few words! It was lovely sitting in the sun and out of the wind but the breeze was still a bit chilly.

Thank you Millie.
Tiredness creeping up on me is still a bugbear, like yourself, but we're trying to build in slightly longer stays to allow for a rest day, which actually was needed today. Mrs WN was speaking to our neighbour on site before they left this morning. Her son in his mid 40s was found in his lorry cab at a service station having suffered a severe stroke. He can't remember being married or recognise his wife. Is now partially paralysed and no longer has an effective life. We have heard similar tales and can only thank our lucky stars that we are able to navigate a way back to some sort of normality.
Full wash day today and a lovely day for relaxing in the sun around the caravan. We've enjoyed ourselves again but are off towards home tomorrow but stopping en route at Hebden Bridge for a few nights.
Hope everyone has had a pleasant weekend in this gorgeous weather.

Hi TG our friends are near Beynac and due to go back home this week and of course the weather is improving could be 27C next Saturday and the nest four days are 24C the highest has been the 6th when it got to 31.2C and then went much cooler after that and as you say thunderstorms for a few days had 5.6mm today at least I do not have to water the garden.
Have a good trip back WN and take care glad to see you are improving, we are off to Villefranche shopping again this week.
Going to prepare the two walls in the bedroom for second coat of paint I do the delicate bits and OH does the rolling part hopefully will not take too long., OH has the doctor Tuesday am and has done his blood pressure regime 3 in the morning 3 in the evening for 3 days and now all recorded on the form supplied by the doctor his blood pressure machine sends the results to his Ipad you can tell he is a tech nut ha ha.

Busy few days here. DD's tenants reported condenser tumble dryer not working on Wednesday, so I went to take a look on Thursday, agreed with them, and we removed it.
Picked up a new, more efficient, heat pump model for them, and DD and I delivered it and installed it on Saturday morning. Happy tenant.
In between all that, managed to finish woodwork on front of house and remove scaffolding.
Next job is to clean caravan roof. It is very dirty.
Dull weather today, chilly too.

Witnessed and interesting experience yesterday evening. We went out for a meal as its was eldest son's birthday. When we came out of the restaurant, which is on one of the main Boulevards in CMK saw a crow suddenly attack something on the road, it was a rat! Despite cars whizzing around him he persisted and enjoyed his dinner!

It’s been a lovely warm day here, sunshine all day. I have been in garden pottering around all afternoon. Forecast is for more of the same most of this week, no mention of rain in next ten days though.
We had a smart meter fitted last Friday, as you do, it’s a novelty at the moment. Engineer said it won’t settle down for a few days, so it’s all over the place at times.0 -
Earlier in the week we celebrated Norwegian Constitution Day on 17th May.
DD and the children had put up the Norwegian flags, and we had waffles for lunch, with various toppings........strawberry jam......marscapone cheese......brown (goat's) cheese. Followed by cupcakes. Delicious but decadent! Just as well it is only once per year.

Brue, it is well worth a visit. There is a large free car park opposite the Amphitheatre on the road down to the golf club, and it is only a short walk into the town last the Roman Museum and the Roman Baths. I would like another longer look around. The museum is free and the Baths are too if one is a CADW or EH member.
Thanks all for the likes of the photos, and I am glad you had a good day out on Anglesey ABM.
Hope the weather improves for you next week, RK, and that it stays fine for the rest of your trip over there TG.
Have a safe tow over to Hebden Bridge, WN, and enjoy the rest of your trip.
Good to go read that others family get togethers have gone well.

We really enjoyed Caerleon when we were in area Nellie, lots to see. I was fascinated by the finds from the pool drains displayed yin the museum, some lovely semi precious stones and intaglios. Well worth visiting. Hope your trip is going well, we like South Wales.😁

Thanks, tda, we have now left S.Wales and are in the Cotswolds at Chipping Norton after an easy tow across. The site is surprisingly full, and although there was rather a lot of road noise this afternoon it is quite peaceful now. Will see what it is like in the morning, as Kjell is concerned following TG's post. The road outside of the site was lined with cars when we arrived as next to the site is Jeremy Clarkson's supposed "Farm Shop", what a con as it is just big cow shed in reality. Thankfully it is not open again till Thursday so there shouldn't be cars lining the road during the week.
This lovely 1929 Austin 7 is on site, the owner having taken it to a classic car rally this weekend.

Another beautiful day without a cloud in the sky here in Devon. It hasn’t rained here since we got back from our very wet break away. Unusual for the middle of May cos it’s usually chilly and wet until later in May, we know because of family birthdays spend away over the years. Maybe because of the very late start to spring. It has allowed me to get on with gardening, where I am quite happy, would say it’s now pristine but it’s a cottage garden so it never looks pristine. We have also been very busy with indoor jobs so the house is looking good.
Getting a little concerned as I’ve already emptied one water barrel and hesitant about starting on the other one so early in the year. It’s unusual to have one dry week in Devon until the height of summer let alone two. Any holiday makers here at present have hit the jackpot. We still have appointments booked but will try to get a day out later in the week while the weather holds.
