St Alban’s is on our list of to do’s when we get the chance, glad you had a good day Millie. It’s a beautiful day here, but it was yesterday as well. Sunny, but there’s a very keen East wind that rips right through you🥶Could be another bike ride day……..check,out that first aid kit!😂

Someone on here might recognise this establishment in Dartmouth where it was very quiet today and we just had an amble around via the coastal bus.

One of our favourite places in Devon Brue.
Had a run out to Pickering to visit the castle and we enjoyed both the castle and town. Never been before. We intend to do a few walks in the area and have changed our plans a little to fit them in.
Weather has been kind with long spells of sunny intervals but of course we had cloud cover when at the castle so photos look flat. You'll have to recall tumbledown castle walls etc.
Home to a shower and same for the weather.

Sounds good WN, hope it's getting a bit warmer up your way.
Debsc I hope you can conquer the cough! If it's like the one I had it took a good dose of antibiotics and time to throw off. Take care.
Enjoying your travelogue and pics TDA.

Coo, I hadn’t realised you had never been to Pickering WN, one of our favourite places. If you get chance to return, and haven’t already been in, the Church is wonderful, colourful medieval wall paintings.👍

Brue - As I think you know I’m a regular visitor to that establishment makes the 450 mile trip worth it hehe love Dartmouth one of our favourite places.
WN - We visit Pickering on a regular basis lovely place and just further up the road is Thornton le Dale where Mathewsons garage of Bangers and Cash fans is located

Lovely photos tda and brue. We used to go to north Devon for many years but don't know south Devon as well. It looks like all of you are having a good time away. We love Pickering as well WN. It is such a lovely area with lots to do. I was on Welcomer duty this morning so after a full day yesterday and this mornings volunteering I am really tired now. An early night methinks. It has been sunny and dry today but with a very cold breeze. I do wish it would warm up a bit.

More fine, warm weather today so out for a walk this morning at Llandegfedd Reservoir, but disappointing in that it was poorly waymarked. After lunch and a call in at Tesco for fruit and veg we had a much better walk in Pontypool Park, a place we may well return to for another walk there. Then general food shopping at Aldi on the way back to the van. It stayed fine until around 6:30 when it clouded up. Another interesting tree, this time a 500 yr old Sweet Chestnut, and a sculpture recording the mining history of the town.

Belated posts from yesterday.
AD, grand news, fingers crossed that all goes well, and you are able to away soon.
Super photos, Millie, pleased to hear that you had a good away day.
Brue, enjoy your next trip away and have a nice relaxing time.
Glad that you like your next CL, WN, and that you had a good time along by the Humber.
Pleased to read that Ros has got a date for her MRI scan, R&R, hope that they are able to diagnose her problem and are able to sort out the problem

And I think you also mean Patrington - not Partington - re the church, ttda Didn't realise you were so close to us in Hornsea.
Brue - great photos of my 'second home'. I was at BRNC in '68 so Dartmouth will always be a special place for me and we are there again in September (if Ros is better!). Second photo is definitely Bayard's Cove where we always make a point of having a pint outside the "DA" - (Dartmouth Arms) together with an 'Oggie' from the shop just down the road. Not sure about the first one - bit small looking at it on my laptop but it looks like somewhere near the market place. Dartmouth is a bit like Filey, here on the East coast - in that all those years it has never changed and has managed to retain a 'refined' sort of popularity.

Brue - the first photo is taken looking down Union Street and that's the Dolphin pub on the right. Do I get a prize????

R&R you can share the honours with Francis and yes it was Bayards Cove where we sat watching the car ferry being pushed by the tug. The tide looked quite strong as it moved one way or the other against the water! Apart from people doing the Round Robin trip Dartmouth was totally uncrowded. I presume the Spring Holiday will bring more visitors but generally we're finding things to be quiet.
I've put a link on to the Woodland Trust as I enjoyed Nellie's ancient tree post and there are plenty more to discover.

We had a lovely day out yesterday in the Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park near Ripon. It was warm! I was gradually removing coats and cardigans. It’s a beautiful place, especially at present with all the Rhododendrons out. It’s famous for the Blue Poppy - Mecanopsis. There was an art installation (along with many interesting sculptures) of a flow of ceramic ones. Recommend a visit when anyone is in the area.

😁 oh dear, yes indeed, I do mean Patrington, I must read my posts more carefully before pressing send. Thanks R&R. We didn’t quite venture further North this time.
Beautiful old tree Nellie👍

Had a lovely few hours spent wandering around the gardens of Scampston Hall, north of Malton. Plenty of variety still to make an appearance but we still had enough to keep us interested.
Met a volunteer and got talking as I'm want to do. She was born, raised and married in the village about a mile from our own in North Wales. She move to Yorkshire 40 years ago just as we were moving to North Wales so we filled her in with all of the local changes. We realised that she and I could have been at the same primary school back in the 60's as we lived in that area until 1966. Quite a coincidence.

Finally summer has arrived, well something near to it. A lovely sunny warm day and the big car got it's first drive out of the year. To Blanchland for coffee and cake at the White Monk's tearoom which was the village school so felt right at home (plenty of MH parking in the larger car park) then into Weardale above Stanhope. A grand day out.

Thanks you!
We inherited it from my father in law. He bought it in 1996 and would only use it on special occasions, he sadly fell ill about 8 years later and really stopped driving and he'd only done about 21,000 miles! There's a message in that somewhere.
When he died in 2013 my mother in law wouldn't let anyone touch it and it stood completely still till she passed away in 2020. We had it reconditioned and put back on the road and we've only added 2000 miles since then but only when it's sunny! It's a V6 4 litre petrol and the acceleration is awesome!
Yes we did a Jaguar show last year when it was one of the youngest cars there!

More sunshine but not quite as warm today, only 19C, and clouded up later in the afternoon. Drove over to Blaenavon for a bit of industrial archaeology. Visited the Ironworks before lunch and then parked by The Big Pit, the Welsh mining museum, but as we had been around before we had a walk along one of the old tramways and around by Garn Lakes.
Smart looking car, CS, and a good run out by the sounds of it.
Thanks for the link, brue, we will have to see if we can visit some of the other great old trees.
Heddlo, that looks to be a garden worth seeing, so will add it to the list of other places to visit sometime.

Great car CS my late step brother had a Daimler Sovereign with 2.5 litre engine and that drove well with 2 16 gallon fuel tanks it was a burgundy colour lovely vehicle and in good condition, biggest engine OH has had was a classic Range Rover V8 3.9 litre soft dash and that was superb for towing a bit expensive on fuel though.
Off to a Vide Grenier (boot sale) in a local village later when the crowds have gone and find somewhere for a picnic lunch although the weather not looking as good as yesterday, it is a long holiday weekend here all schools closed until Monday and the first public holiday of the year and a lot of traffic about, friends of ours are due back home after a holiday today from near Narbonne so may get caught in traffic.
Great photos Nellie.
Grass cutting yesterday and some strimming done more to do tomorrow as today is Ascension not really allowed to make a lot of noise with garden equipment and could be fined if caught heyho but the locals do ignore that sometimes.

Lovely car Corners, and a fantastic drive to take it on👍 We miss the Ford at Stanhope, great for washing off Winter salt🤣
Tried to post last night, but poof….off into the land of forever lost CT posts. Last morning here, we have had a great week. Finished yesterday with another bike ride in the warm sunshine, down to Winteringham where the Romans first crossed the Humber. Beautiful churchyard picnic spot, sadly church was locked but it was a very pretty place full of wildflowers, bees and butterflies. I put up a Barn Owl, big nest box in the trees. OH spotted a Treecreeper.
Home today, after possibly Normanby Hall. Been a really nice week.

Recovering from a " Medical Emergency " today
Went to pharmacy in Sandbach ( market day ) for Spring Covid 19 jabbing so took a liberty and parked on Waitrose CP !
Arrived at the Pharmacy 40 minutes early along with three others but ended up fully jabbed and back on the car park in just 10 minutes so went into Waitrose Dear Supermarket and only spent about £40 on the card -- now That is some emergency for ABM !!
Drove home the pretty way, but the wallet is still making sad noises

Gosh didn't realise it was a holiday weekend RK. I'd checked it out and nothing came up for this weekend, just that today was Ascension day. Not that it seemed to matter here at all the shops and everything were all still open and busy.
This site has been doing grass trimming and hedge cutting today as well as yesterday and the site down the road the same.
Weather gone cloudy today still warm but thankfully at long last the wind has dropped. We've decided to move on tomorrow up towards Carcassonne for a few days. Weather not looking that great but feel we need a change of scene. This site is now full and not as peaceful as it was.
I think our decision to change our plans and not go to Italy were definitely the right one. We thought the forecast didn't look favourable and sadly we have been proved right. Terrible scenes we saw this morning on the news.

AD - Got behind the wheel today for the first time since early December. Wife has polished up her neglected driving skills in that time after 30 years as a passenger.
I know exactly how you feel. Congrats, another step closer to normality. We bought a car for OH about 5 years ago as her driving was being marginalised and am glad we did. Mind you she hasn't volunteered for caravan towing duties.

Had an exceptional day spent along the cliffs between Bempton and Flamborough today.
Just being able to do this was unimaginable 5 months ago but it was the thought of it that kept me going during rehab. Seabirds galore and a pod of Dolphins as well.
Brought back down to earth by the paucity of food in Tesco's at both Filey and Scarborough.
TG - I was thinking that you had made the right choice when I saw the news. Just shows one should always have a Plan B.
Nellie - Good photos. I like a bit of Industrial Heritage stuff.
