13 pin socket - continuous feed

I've recently fitted a 13 pin socket to our car for our newly aquired caravan (Not from a dealer).

It seems like I did a good job because indicators, brake lights etc all work OK. Fine so far.

However, there is a continuous feed to the caravan regardless of ignition switch.

What is puzzling me is what is this supply feeding? Our car deosn't like it because I get a warning when we open a door.

Can someone please educate me? What is the continuous feed for?

The continuous feed on ours basically powers the ATC.

The feed is provided for the ATC as stated by others,it also can provide a live feed for the caravan if required due to caravan battery problems.

So, as I only need the +ve feed tor the ATC, which is only needed when I am towing, I can disconnect it and stop my car complaining about a live feed when I am stopped. I am also then sure that nothing is draining my car battery when I am taking a rest break.

    Does that make sense?

I believe the continuous live feed would normally be used to charge your caravan battery while towing.

The fridge supply (switched) and permanent supply should be cabled separately from the car battery to the 13 pin  socket.
