Yes, I did think about that myself, and to be honest cannot think it would be a problem. But best to ask staff and just go with the answer. Otherwise, use a CL where often there’s a lot more space and a less rigid protocol. Staff have to manage to the expectations of Club visitors, not easy at times for them, damned if they do, damned if they won’t.🤔

Similarly if you have a basecamp on a non awning pitch could you pitch it as described in the provided plan and erect its awning which fits on the back and not the side? Surely so as no firebreak issues are contravened and it would still be shorter than a big tag axle caravan. After all, it’s the width that determines pitch category.

On the majority of our sites the two markers are 2.5 meters apart Mikey as the widest van is 2.45. Can't imagine any van that short so that would be a no.

On a different thread a long while ago a similar question was raised regarding outfit length and basecamp vans with awning at the rear. The sensible approach with a rear awning van is to include the awning in the outfit length, so on that and as you state it's the width that counts regarding firebreaks I can't see an issue. A call to the site to be sure for assurance would be advised though.

Makes sense to me, just wondering if that call may just give the reassurance that the staff understand, or not, the issues related to firebreaks. I’d really hope it’s only a few members who need help with that reassurance and understanding.

I've said before the ideal pitching is a nice patch of gravel for van and awning where you can pitch as you want, with lots of grass around for your comfort, enjoyment and required fire break distance.
Well this week I found such a site. We are just back from a lovely few days in Cornwall, staying about 15 miles south of Truro at https://www.trethem.com/ It is a few miles past the C&MC site Merrose Farm Club Campsite.
At £31 a night for two it is not the cheapest but compares very well with other sites. It was fabulous. When we turned up the office gave me a selection of pitches to choose from and said the only constraint was car and awning must be on the gravel. You can go in frontwards, backwards to the left or right, and as you have a small Eriba crossways if you wish. Well I tried the crossways but my levelling block could not cope, so it was nose out.
The site is difficult to fault, generous gravel areas surrounded by lovely grass, privacy from hedges, immaculate landscaping, spotless facilities, free across site wi-fi, TV points on your bollard. You even get a pub style table and bench. Wood fired oven Pizzas cooked to order on Mondays [nice] and Fish & Chip van on Thursdays.
If you are looking for a site in the area I can recommend it.Colin
