Well send a bit of it over here, brue! I was absolutely frozen taking Meg out on the beach yesterday and it wasn't much better today. We've got our lovely north-easterly coming straight off the sea and it's grim
Thanks for your words of encouragement, DEBSC - I certainly will keep at 'em. Hopefully the MRI will be arranged within the next week or so and then perhaps someone will let us know exactly what we're dealing with

Very sunny and hot here since first thing. OH went for shopping, leaving me to get on with stripping off the failed mastic. Not surprised we were getting water in, the wood above the patio doors has shrunk leaving quite a gap.
Have been to Toolstation and procured a couple of tubes of sealant, may need more, but 2 is a start. Far too hot on the woodwork right now to apply the sealant......about 50 degrees......so will have to wait till evening. Forecast is for rain tomorrow, so need to get this done tonight.
I can see we will also need some treatment on the wood before summer is over, question is, can I do it myself or do we need to engage the guy we used last time for the high up bits?

Went to a plant sale this morning. Glad I've got lots of room still in the beds and borders. All locally grown in aid of the church. Most incredibly reasonably priced but still managed to 'donate' 😉 £25.
Just need some warmth or sun to inspire planting!
Took the opportunity to find P&R for the guided bus in anticipation of next months trip to Papworth. As it's an hour from there to the hospital, took 45 minutes to drive there as well. Decision made to use the P&R we used when we came in from Essex, 35 minute drive, 10 minutes ish on the bus. So not a total wated afternoon.
Going to chill out now, this cold and grey saps my energy and enthusiasm to do anything. It seems to have been endless since last summers sun and heat.

Yes finally some decent May weather, over the winter months I track down old photographs of train lines that have become cycle paths and then when it gets warmer I'll cycle out to find the present day view. The older view at Picktree (within about one mile of home) is dated 1982 when the track of the Tyne Dock to Consett (steelworks) line was being taken up.
Now I would think that perhaps many of you will have passed over the second bridge in the background at some point. It's certainly bigger today as it's the six lane A1(M) just before Washington services.

The weather here has been really "up and down" this year B2. Just when we thought things were improving it all went back to cold, wet, and windy.
second week of Easter school holidays was bad, the following 2 weeks too, so our 3 weeks away were very poor.
Surely things can only improve?

Had a couple of, if not hectic, at least full days these last few days. Thoroughly enjoyable they where as well with excellent company in the evening but there's a price to pay for it and today it came asking for its money.
So I had a leisurely day, mostly spent, according to Mrs.WN, snoring contentedly at the caravan ceiling whilst she got on and did some uninterrupted painting. Just beginning to feel back to normal now. Last day here tomorrow. All 5 pitches in use plus 1 glamping pod, who are some sort of relative of one of the M/Homers.
Good drying day for a full wash that OH did first thing this morning. Dried by late afternoon.

A beautiful warm sunny day here in mid Wales. I sat outside in shirt sleeves and shorts till 7:30 this evening, and it is still 16C outside. We did a riverside walk from the site, and OH surprised me by managing the climb up "Jacob's Ladder" a hundred step climb above the gorge on the river. Returned to the river path, after our picnic lunch, by a gentler descent. We were serenaded as we sat picnicking by two Willow Warblers in the tree beside our seat. I went for a second walk from the van and called in at The Towy Bridge Inn for what turned out to be one of the very best pints I have tasted, Glamorgan Brewery's Jemima's Pitchfork.
Passed this 700 Yr old oak on the way back to the site. Other photos are of the gorge and our hidden site!!

It’s definitely🥶 here on the East Coast. We headed across to Grimsby today, for a look around the Heritage Fishing Museum. Took us ages to find how to get there, even using Sat Nav and iPhone map thanks to a bridge closure, but we persevered. Glad we did, excellent and interesting place, we shall never look at fish and chips the same again. Drove through Cleethorpes, first time in around five decades. Lovely scenic drive home around NE Lincs, some beautiful villages.

We did lose track of time last night WN, apologies, and hope you are ok.
Had the strangest feeling someone was watching us this evening🤣 Looked through window, and yes, there he was. One of a pair of beautiful St Bernard’s, happily camping next door. They have their own awning, so well behaved and quiet.

Good to hear and see the various holidays going well, hope the weather improves elsewhere. The very warm weather here yesterday has left us with a heavy mist this morning.

We had a great day yesterday at our family gathering everyone enjoyed it and the weather was good lots of burgers eaten and many empty bottles and cans disposed of in the recycle bin. Last people left just after 1 this morning. All cleaned up now so planning a relaxing day today

Gosh they ate heavy dogs Tda, can remember years ago staying at Crossways site in Dorset and 1 couple had a pair of Newfoundland dogs and he used to brush them both every day and took a long time and they were big dogs as well but very friendly.
Well glad we could not go away today as it now pouring with rain and was not on the forecast early, but it is looking drier this week but still cool, hope it is dry tomorrow as OH wants to do some mowing the grass is very long now, I had a walk around the field earlier when it was dry and bright and found quite a few Orchids out even 1 bee Orchid out in flower should have put my wellies on as grass was longer than I thought so a quick check when back in house make sure no ticks all ok as Lyme disease is getting worse here.

I'm fine Brue. Thanks for asking. I often need a recalibration day after doing something for 4 or 5 days on the trot. Not Ttdas' fault at all.
Went for a gentle 90 minute stroll this morning. Weather was warm but a bit misty on the Humber. Enjoyed it. Not long finished having a chat to Ttdas'. Been lovely to see them but we're moving tomorrow, not far from Pickering.
Good to hear that the family gathering went well Francis. Bit shocked to hear there was some alcohol consumed.
Love the old tree Nellie. Tell OH we're proud of her for the other days effort on Jacobs Ladder.

Arrived home a couple of hours ago, not a good journey with a long traffic jam soon after we left, the motorway was ok, we like to travel on a Sunday as fewer lorries. Then this end we found the North Devon Link Road closed, due to an accident, despite knowing a better route we stupidly followed the diversion sign which took us a long way round, then another accident there, it looked rather bad with the ambulance and police already on the scene. Just feel very sorry for those involved in both and hope they are alright.
The swan didn’t hatch her eggs before we left. I expect someone will post a photo when they do. I’m missing our caravan already. We didn’t do much this time though, mostly due to OH chest infection, then I got tonsillitis. First wash in the machine now, how is it that 2 of us went away for 2 weeks and yet It seems that I brought back 4 persons washing for 4 weeks! The garden has grown like Topsy. I just couldn’t believe it, then I remembered that with us being poorly I hadn’t done much for the three weeks before we went away, so 5 weeks really. I do hope we have some decent weather this week so that I can sort it all out.
Talking previously of MRI scans, our Granddaughter was told by the Neurologist that she would need one to be done on her brain, that was 5 weeks ago and she was given short notice that she has an appointment for today (Sunday) at 7pm! Maybe they are trying to shorten the waiting list but good on them for late working on a Sunday.

After a bit of a marathon jouney down the M6 that's us back homeafter a lovely 2 weeks holiday, and we can't even complain about the weather, makes a change 🤣
After leaving Mull we had a couple of nights on a CL with views of Loch Lomand and then onto Englethwaite Hall for a few nights. Visited Rspb Geltsdale ,stunning scenery and dropped in on a talk on Curlew's which was interesting.
Lovely to meet Goldie and her husband who were also on site enjoying a well earned rest.🙂 Hope you had a safe journey home.
Nellie sorry for the late reply, you asked where we stayed on Mull, we used the Crannich site, only about 8 touring pitches so a bit like a CL,and a few statics behind the farm.Toilet and shower if required no phone/tv signal but wifi worked quite well.It's not far from the ferry, so not too far to travel on the single track roads. Nice views and quiet apart from the Peacocks and Guinea Fowl! 🤣

Thanks, Helen, I will make a note of it and perhaps we will get there sometime in the not too distant future. Nice that you met up with Goldie at Englethwaite. Guess it was the Gartfairn CL overlooking Loch Lomond that you stopped on, we have used it a couple of times.
WN, good to read that you are fee!ing better and had a good, if gentle, walk this morning. Hope the journey up to your next site is an easy tow.
Brue, it is an beautiful area at this time of the year with some "interesting" roads. The Dinas RSPB Reserve is well worth a visit, and is signposted as Ogof Twm Sion Cati. There are a couple of carparks, the first one leads directly onto the circular walk around the reserve. A quarter of the footpath is quite rough and rocky, so not great for both OH with her bad knees and me trying to lead a blind dog so we have that part a miss, along with the ascent up to the cave. Great for lots of birds, especially warblers.

Debs, good news that your granddaughter has been able to get an MRI scan so promptly, going by what other have said, and that it helps in the assessment and treatment of her problems.

Not too bad a day here. Dull first thing, then rain, but some sun later.
My repairs to the front of the house seem successful as no water coming in, but I will need to look at what needs to be done to the woodwork.
It is not paint, but a breathable woodstain cum preservative. Expensive but long lasting. May need to buy some more.
I have left the scaffold tower in place and will do as much of the "painting" as I can.
Next is to look at the rest of the front windows in case they need attention. All the weather is from the front, south, the back and east side are totally sheltered, we have not needed to do anything with the windows there for at least 10 years.
There is a lot needing done to keep the place up to scratch, I think, now I am slowing down due to advanced age, everything takes longer, maybe we need to stay home more!
Sell the caravan??
It is quite a big property to look after, but we are reluctant to move as we like it here, plus the upheaval would be terrible.
Would like to find someone to do some maintenance for us, basically we just need a handyman/painter/gardener.......but not easy to find!

Today, our last near Llandovery before we move further south tomorrow, started off misty but it cleared up by mid morning, and because rain was forecasted for later in the day we took the canopy down before heading out. Firstly we returned to the Dinas Reserve for a walk and were rewarded with our first sighting of a Wood Warbler. Then we drove up over the mountain road around Llyn Brianne to the view point at Carreg Clochdy. Returned to the reservoir carpark for another walk. Just after our evening meal, when I was hearding out with Flyte it started to rain but has now eased off and it is just mizzle now.

Busy weekend with a family wedding up at Iscoyd Park near Whitchurch on Saturday. What a lovely day... and great place and food. Have a busy time coming up too, including a few concerts coming up, some weddings to play for here at the Abbey.... and we really need to get the caravan 'deep cleaned' and ready to swap for our new van..... less than a week and a half to go, if everything goes to plan... 😀

We completely understand your thoughts here KjellNN. Home stuff was one of our reasons for selling our caravan, that was NOT our only reason and we don’t want home stuff to take over our life, far from it! We just wanted more time to do things at home and the money to do it! We would like some new furniture, although we were asked why did we want to do that at our age? Cheeky!! Apart from the fact that I (particularly) wasn’t enjoying all the ‘getting ready and sorting out afterwards’ scenarios or indeed using the caravan. Of course there have been times in the last 6 months that we have missed it, and I’m sure there will be others to come, but very few. We have been away a couple of times recently and have a week booked in September. Lots of days out and overnight stays have been fine for us. Take care with all this high level work!

It isn't just the upheaval! When you get on well with your neighbours, you may move and end up with not very good neighbours. I have sometimes thought about moving to a smaller property but I have great neighbours and the prospect of moving and ending up with neighbours like I used to have where I lived previously, puts me off. It is always better to ask people you know for recommendations, but you could try posting a small "handyman" type job on one of the sites such as Rated People and if you choose someone and they do a good job, you could ask them to do other jobs for you.

Like you bakers2 we have an upcoming appt at Addenbrooks for OH and thought we would use the guided bus from St Ives P&R but it would take far too long. My friend whose OH was in and out of Addenbrooks for most of last year has advised me that Trumpington P&R which is junction 11 off the M11 is the best one to use for Addenbrooks so that is what we shall do. Apparently it is the single decker as rhe double decker goes to central Cambridge.
