ViaMichelin
Do you know that ViaMichelin have removed the "towing a caravan" option from their "plan a route"? Is there an alternative web service?
I should add that I "love" my Volvo XC60. It's probably the best car I've owned and a great "tow car", I am amazed that the SatNav doesn't have a "towing" option and would have led me astray had I not researched the route behand. A surprise omission given it's received "towcar" of the year.

Hi John, This has been mentioned on other forums and I think there is an assumption that it calculates routes suitable for a car & caravan, rather than a solo car, whereas, so far as I am aware, it simply calculates the cost of tolls with/without a van on tow.
If you need accurate toll costs try mappy.com-this used to be our go to planner before via and its still got a caravan option.
Similarly I don't think the fact that a car does well in the TCOY in any way suggets that a vehicle will have a 'towing option'-I am pretty sure that any car with such would have got mentions on here.

Well that's upset me. I always use the website when towing. I'll definitely miss the tolls calculations for the caravan.
I have just e-mailed asking if the removal is permanent. https://www.viamichelin.com/magazine/contact-us/

Replying to "allanandjean's" post. I assumed, wrongly it seems, that ViaMichelin would also adjust the average speed to take into account the difference between car journeys and towing speed restrictions. Looks as though VM aren't going to change their minds and anyway does it really matter. I'll just take a view, having looked at the route, on what my average will be.
BTW. I have a CL site near Bideford that needs particular and specific access so I've used their postcode to test online software, websites and car SatNavs.
As a result the Garmin 780 is the only SatNav or online tool that correctly shows the only route to the site (the two other routes both have non negotiable corners).

John, I think I'm correct in saying the Avtex is a Garmin inside, so that should also get us to your site.

My planning is done using Google maps, Streetview and ViaMichelin/ Mappy.
Google, ViaMichelin and Mappy allow you to choose toll or non toll but the trick is knowing when Euros spent on a toll is the better choice and, as ever with planning, remembering to check, check and check again.
As for site access, this is where Streetview is invaluable and helps a avoid any of the “oh sugar” moments!
