Cost of sites has gone mad

As the tread has wandered into pegs and spacing, they are there to ensure fire safety. One can think it isn't needed but there have been fires on club sites (I remember some terrible photos posted) and while the pegs won't stop fires they are there to stop the spread. The club has chosen to use certain regulations and guidelines and if one wants to use a club site then one has to abide by them. I don't find them in any way onerous or spoil my stay in any way
But, like all things club related, if one thinks that it's not a risk and/or finds them to be onerous then don't choose a club site, and, as we are often told, save quite a bit of money at the same time for better quality sites?.
Also it's not just club sites that use the 6m/3m spacing.

hope you enjoy peedee, have you factored in breakdown/medical cover, not sure £420 would cover my diesel costs from ferry to Southern Spain and return, and sites in Spain do increase prices over holidays such as Easter, but when we go we dont really keep a tag on how much we have spent.
going to stay with my daughter for 10 days in San Miguel, £250 for air fare, £12.50 per month for medical/breakdown cover, not that i will need the breakdown part, b/b evening meal FOC, just responsible for keeping the beer fridge topped up.
On the 12th May off to a Tranquil site in Cornwall, fully serviced pitch in a quiet location with an excellent dog walk 20 minutes from Peranporth £200 for 7 days we will be staying for 10 days , but happy to pay close to £30 per night. Might consider overthere for our autumn trip, but currently booked for 1 month on a site in Devon at 2022 prices because we booked as we left last year.

It would obviously be rather churlish of me to ask for my p45 and try and share information I have no knowledge of DD.
Although I have no interest it would though be nice and encouraging to fellow posters here to know where these fantastic places are, after all the thread title is the cost of sites has gone mad but you've found a full serviced pitch for £26. Why such reluctance to share?

I think it's a great shame and dis-service to follow posters where someone finds a great VFM site with great facilities (to them of course - it's not a fact) is talked about but for some reason they are unwillingness to share the name and location. I can sort of understand perhaps not on the actual thread but why not on the small private sites thread? Then everyone can enjoy the site?

As highlighted in other posts, the business model fit camp sites abroad is often different to the UK for many reasons. Some countries have tax regimes that benefit seasonal business’s. However not all sites ‘over there’ are lower priced. We stayed on a site near Fussen in southern Germany in 2013 which even then was €43/night just for a standard small pitch.

But for every "one" that criticises there may be many who find suggestions useful and consequently visit those sites. Win/win for caravanner and site owner. That's the point of the "small private sites" thread, isn't it? Little point moaning on here about club site prices, suggesting there are better alternatives but leaving folk in suspense. Not very helpful for fellow forum members is it?
Even now that we no longer tour with a caravan, I retain an interest and check out sites if we walk past them and add them to the list on that thread.
Edit - sorry PD, not referring to your post but putting an alternative point of view to et.

Interestingly we're on a very nice private site with luxurious facilities and we're paying £28.50 per night. Had we made it onto the CAMC rally list for here it would have been £16 per night!! There are other options out there if you are a CAMC member.

Indeed there are, Brue, and many alternatives to CAMC sites exist within a short distance of those CAMC sites.

Given there isn’t an equivalent UK model to Aires it is pointless quoting their prices whether over there or on the moon. For us personally we dont have a motorhome and even if we had, they are the last place we would use. However to get back to the topic and ‘over here’ - a recent 3 night school term time weekend in a small 2 person self catering cottage near Whitby was £360. An equivalent stay on a decent caravan site would probably have been £90 tops. That leaves £270 which more than pays for the caravan service. We have another 5 weekends booked with the caravan each of 3 nights and including 2 bank holidays. That cumulative saving will be in the region of £1200. That is before we look at 9 nights in Cornwall from tomorrow (which includes another 2 bank hols) and 18 nights ‘over there’ in summer. And try finding half decent b & b over a bank hol for under £50 night/person and that is before the dog is included. Whether or not you have a caravan you still need transport so apart from the minimal saving from being able to buy a smaller car, the savings in that respect are not going to make you a millionaire. So, I will get back to the OP, it’s very simple to me. Vote with your caravan and wallet and go elsewhere. It is still allegedly a free country and the last time I checked being a member of snd using CAMC sites is not compulsory.

+1 to all of that.

"I do know that one regular poster did go to Woodovis Park when I pointed out they gave cheap prices to any one with an ACSI discount card, but no one else ever followed up any suggestion of any site. They just criticised."
ET we have been using Woodovis for years, love it, great pool if you go out of season, and the site is now almost self sufficient for lecce, they have installed large solar panels in the field going dwn to the dog walk, we normally stay for 1 month, and my best day out is down to Bude to use the sea pool.
I dont normally recommend sites as you run the risk of getting taken to task, but this site is not cheap but compares to CAMC prices and the facilities are much better, it has an indoor pool which most CAMC sites do not but should have at the prices they charge.

Indeed, or even cheese, from the BBC yesterday:
The cost of a homemade cheese sandwich has jumped by over a third in one year, according to research for the BBC.
The price of two slices of white bread, a serving of butter and mature cheddar has risen to 40p, up 37% over a year.0 -
I know it’s topic drift but I get where ‘brave’ is coming from. Away from the feedback microphone from conversing with other caravanners, the majority of non caravanning friends and colleagues clearly think we are unhinged towing a caravan anywhere, let alone to Scotland, or Cornwall and going to Austria is to be utterly deluded. So yes, in the wide world of those whose aspiration is to jump on a Ryanair flight to Spain every summer to eat English food and drink English beer, caravanning is ‘brave’.

I doubt any form of bravery came into it FC, I was called a muppet just to buy a Caravan back in the day🤣. I only had it 3yrs before I bailed. The using of it was enjoyable but the storage/tugging/insurance, the low speeds on roads & general upkeep of it was so not enjoyable.
