Interesting in Burgundy's post that the offer is only available online, not via the Call Centre. Is this an indication that the Call Centre is being overwhelmed by people wanting to book sites rather than using the new booking system online?

I did a quick dummy booking for two at Hillhead in July and got a reduction of £8.02 per night. Anyone who has already booked and wanted to cancel and re-book would need to do so promptly as the loss of a deposit would eat into any benefits....but what a palaver. How will customers feel about booking in advance if they are going to see these changes happening? I'm not a fan of what the club deems "flexible" pricing as it feels like a game some will have to play.

I don’t have any issue. As I put, by booking early we have saved 11% in any event and have guaranteed our booking. However, for those who don’t want, or can’t book as early and were prepared to take a chance on if discounts would be offered, it’s very good news.

It’s a bit like deciding whether to buy your new shirt now or wait to see if it’s reduced in a sale. You either go for the certainty or wait and take your chances of it being cheaper. 🤷🏻‍♂️

How did you manage that Brue as offer ends 30th.June according to the quoted T&Cs?

We are getting almost daily emails from Titan, Riviera and Saga offering literally hundreds of pounds off holidays and river cruises this summer. (Sadly, we can't take advantage at the moment as one of the dogs is having health issues.) The brochures always promise "early bookers" get the best deals and guarantee money back/credit if holidays are later reduced in price. I always wonder if they actually stick to that promise? undecided

It's interesting that the sites mostly change from Spring to Summer, so I assume that one site may be fuller in Summer and not in Spring (and the other way round) and hence the club is using DP to get more outfits on pitches when needed? Sound's good.

For those that leave booking till later it's very good not so so good if you need to book far in advance but that's just the way it is but no complaints from me if I 'lost out'. .

If I was booked in at one price would I change it for the cheaper? I honestly don't know, would depend on  few things, a booking in the hand is worth two in the possible site sort of thing?

We are running our own dynamic pricing venture. No deposits involved, no having to book ahead, no useless slow booking system, nothing unexpected being taken from our bank account.

Its going really well at the moment, £18 for hook up, HS and a nice clean loo block last night……😁 And the bonus of not being mown around🤣

I’ve been a member for many years but the prices on club sites have become to expensive for us ( I’m a pensioner ) and I now only use cl sites.

I have also joined the Camping and Caravan Club where I get better deals as a pensioner.
it’s time the caravan and Motorhome club started listening to the  members who have supported the club for most of their caravaning years.

How do you get the discount on c&cc sites. Every time I try to book a site in mid or low season, I put in the discount code ACR and a message comes up saying code not valid. Up to now I have not booked one. I feel I have been conned joining.

DT, I have never had to input a code to get the ACR discount but have just selected ACR Member on the booking page as shown. Does your membership card show you as being an ACR member? If not, you probably need to contact C&CC.

As above ACR is a tick box on the booking form which you get on all CCC sites, I think. ACR should be on your membership card if you have applied for it via CCC HO.

CCC discounts are specific offers to some sites/dates where you have to enter a Promo Code relating to that offer.

You can check what offers are available on CCC website to find the Promo Code.  Hope this helps

After we joined and booked as ACR members, at our first site we had to show proof of age, then the warden put a sticker on our cards and explained that at renewal it would be printed on the card.

davetommo,  you need to show proof that you are old enough to be eligible for ACR, ie over 60, usually by showing your driving licence at the first site you visit or by applying on line at myccc.co.uk/ageconcession

See page 24 in your copy of the 2023/24 SiteSeeker, if you have one.

There's also with CCC "Veteran Membership". Half price annual membership - if you're over 60 and been a member for 25 years (I think!).

Screenshot below expalins ACR, and it's limitations.

I am seriously thinking of leaving this club, it seems to have gone downhill since the restructure. What's the benefit of being a member and still having to pay top dollar as in the case of Rowntree Park, (£58 a night, are you kidding?) In many cases it's cheaper to go private !

I wonder how many members have already left ?

The answer is quite simple, if you don’t like a price that a business is charging then find a business that charges less and use them

According to the latest magazine the club are suggesting that membership has not been higher so its debateable whether members are leaving in any numbers? There will always be a turnover in membership for all sorts of reasons, including some being dissatisfied with the direction of the Club. We have only stayed on three sites this year, one private, one affiliated and one Club site. The private site has been the most expensive, albeit only by a few pounds, the other two about the same price. The secret is to use a mix of sites that suit the locations you wish to visit.

Very much agree with your last sentance David but surely the figures quoted in the latest magazine are historic and not what is happening this year?

There are many, many folk who have a bad reaction to change. The initial reaction is ‘I’m not renewing my membership’ yet they are still seen posting a long time after, this is not an attack merely an observation. In fact it’s mostly me supporting the folk that do it. It shows after they have calmed down they actually realise they really can weather the storm(price rises). It is what we all view as VFM. If CAMC give this then it’s crazy to deny yourself it. Some of CAMC’s detractors constantly proffer advice to find other pitch suppliers yet they never consider leaving themselves🤷🏻‍♂️. ‘When accepting advice always ensure the giver follows their own advice’ as my old boss used to say. I thoroughly enjoyed my membership of the CAMC but my choices right now are way more basic than CAMC offers, when I stop enjoying the wilder camps I will rejoin that is for sure. Enjoy your day👍🏻

As an alternative for  York I suggest Cherry Tree Cottage - 15 hard standing pitches and open all year - and take the bus into the city.

Rocky, we will never know untill the figures are published in 2024. From past figures I have seen something like 50,000 members ( a ballpark estimate) do not renew membership but this  is usually balanced out by new members joining or others rejoining.

I think it is to be expected that from the boom in staycations to 382,000 members, this will drop in later years?????

Thanks PD👍🏻, my post was being mindful of DK’s post-2147hrs yesterday which suggests membership is at record levels. This may be why CAMC are not engaging with the ‘leaving in droves’ narrative👍🏻

According to the Q1 figures this year peedee membership is still at an all time high. More importantly membership retention is also at an all time high so there's no leaving in droves at all.

So it’s probably just a few like myself with our own reasons for Ieaving and maybe, as in my case, it has nothing at all to do with site fees despite what some folk would have us believe 🤷🏻‍♂️
