Planning to drive through Germany to N Austria towards end of July. Looking for somewhere to stay for a few nights near Nuremberg. We prefer smaller sites, don’t need any facilities except hook up. Anybody able to recommend a suitable site?

Thanks

Many years ago we stayed on a small site near the stadium can't remember the name and of course it may no longer be a campsite, sorry.

I think you must be referring to Knaus Campingpark Nürnberg. Yes, it does still exist. It has about 100 pitches so I suppose one can still call it a relatively small campsite. Otherwise, the only campsite in the vicinity is the one that David mentioned, but that's a good deal bigger.

About 4 years ago we stayed at Camping Rangau at Erlangen, about 12 miles from Nürnberg. It's not exactly small, about 150 units,  but is split into 2 halves. A popular night stop for many but these tend to  be parked near reception. Because we were stopping for about 4 nights we were allotted a pitch in an area with about 50 other units in a circular area. Decent site for a few nights stop over and near some lakes that are accessible from site for walking or even cycling. Not far off Motorway as well.

Thanks for your replies, I’m looking into these and also using the ACSI Great Little Campsites App.
