Still awaiting repairs 9 months later
Hi everyone, hope your all happy campers today. Unfortunately last June we were involved in a total non fault accident with a taxi. They admitted fault and we were processing the claim through an accident management company, three month later and no further forward we went direct to the insurer. Today it is 99 months since our incident and our Motorhome is still parked at home in the garden awaiting repair. As the Motorhome has been stood unused the brakes, discs, tyres have degraded. the area of damaged from the incident has left lights, garage and habitation seal open to the elements, which had probably caused further internal damage too. I haven’t started the Motorhome, as thhe rear light unit is full of water and I feel this may cause additional damage. After complaining to the insurance company about time lapsed possible further damage etc, they sent a final response ( having never rang us to discuss the complaint) and with the letter a compensation cheque for £250 🤯. We have now complained to the financial ombudsman, as this whole situation has been mismanaged and we have been left firstly without our Motorhome, as it is not road worthy and want to know if the degradation and possible additional issues caused through having stood for 9 month will be addressed too? Any thoughts or experience appreciated Leigh & Janet

Sorry, is this an issue about CAMC insurance as it’s in the Club Products section?I’m not quite following 🤔

I am confused why the need for an accident management company. Why didn’t you report the incident to your insurer in the first place and let them sort it? It’s how I have handled car accidents I have been involved in, even no fault ones. Also your post seems to indicate that you have only just started chasing this after 9 months, I would have been onto them after a week if they hadn’t sent an assessor and got the ball rolling.

Hi sorry no it’s AXA and the insurance management company was part of my legal cover. I am insured through an agent.

Hi sorry, we are insured by a broker, the management company are the legal cover and then our insurance Motorhome underwriter is AXA.

I have been chasing this for 9 months, no further forward.as they say they are awaiting parts. I’ve gone to the ombudsman because nothing is happening 😞

So it’s nothing to do with a club product or service.
If it’s in the hands of the ombudsman there’s nothing you can do until he pronounces judgement, so to speak.

get a price for hiring a replacement for holiday and hand the cost over to insurance,

I feel for you having recently suffered - the motor mover failed when I was stuck on a family members drive and I shouldn't have tried to get out without help! It took 6 months to get the van back but luckily I had been able to seal the damage so no further damage was done. I thought that was long enough but your story is terrible - someone should have taken it to keep it protected somewhere. I hope you get a good resolution. Mine was club insurance and apart from the time could have been better it was an easy ride really.
