Renewing Membership

I don’t think an exodus will happen DK to be honest. Many like us, not happy with decision making, losing some of the reasons why we first became Members, not happy with a lot of the VFM available, will simply drift away. But there will be others, new to touring, perhaps with the income to happily stay at the Sites, without any baggage if you like of a lot of how the Club used to do things, that will embrace and enjoy what the Club is now offering. (Although it does need to sort of the tech issues pdq or some of these will walk as well).
There’s no loyalty for the Club left in us. We don’t feel we are given any, so this is reciprocated in our holiday choices nowadays. If some organisation, individual, decided to set up an alternative CL network with a good number of CLs spread across all areas of the UK, then we would indeed stop our DD and walk away. Britstops are giving us this to a certain extent, great for overnights, but we like a CL to relax, ride a bike from over a few days stay as well. Club won’t care what we do to be honest, and frankly, we don’t care what the Club does beyond the CL network.

I mostly agree with you. However I think I do care what the club does. If I didn’t then I probably wouldn’t post on here very much. Trying to work out why I care and I come back to the FACT that the CAMC is a club, not just a commercial organisation, and I think I feel let down. Let down not just about prices, although I do think they are too high for the market, but more about their attitude towards members and their legitimate concerns. I suppose it’s more about communication than anything else. I keep wanting to shout at them TALK TO ME!

+1 to that, Hja.

Oh the Club isn’t ignoring us. We are sent regular emails about the wonderful offers and empty pitches they have at some locations🤣

I very much agree with you Hja and because I pay a membership fee and members are on committees representing all of us I'm beginning to feel there are very big gaps in communications. Trust Pilot reviews are giving a very strange impression of CAMC but it's the only place where there's any chance of finding out what's going wrong because the staff try to respond.

"They will have to review staffing levels in several areas to bring things back in line with customer expectations."
so very true, and in respect of renewing membership by credit/debit card, if this function was working which it isnt and has not done so for at least 7 days, how many people is it going to take to open the additional envelopes feed in card details check they are ok, and ensure the members data base is updated to show that person has paid, whereas, if they fixed the function you should be able to hit "PAY NOW" on line and the programme should take care of all the rest, not rocket science, I assume it worked when the feature was made available

As someone who worked in a Committee/ Salaried Officer environment, I am wondering if the balance of decision making has changed to a certain extent🤔
It’s possibly getting harder and harder to get Members to stand for Committees, so you don’t get much in the way of change or new, across the various demographic changes? (It’s very time consuming sometimes to be an active committee member, particularly if other constraints such as work or family are involved as well). Just thinking……….🤔

I could well imagine this is where things aren't as good as previously. Plus offices in quite an expensive area means higher staff costs and recruitment problems although I think general recruitment is a countrywide problem at the moment.
I don't think I'd better suggest moving premises just now as we may never see CAMC again...

The Club were quite pro active around office costs during COVID. There was a report back from DG about how the Club had looked to reduce office space and save on rental I think. Most of the office jobs involved a degree of working from home, and if you check out the vacancies, many offered involve a percentage of home working. There are quite a few current vacancies at the moment, waiting to be filled, of a variety of posts and positions. Club are still advertising for Site Staff as well.
Its hard to know what’s happening with Committees, other than AGM, I don’t think I have ever seen any meeting minutes, but then I’m not registered with any area, and this might be where all the information is. If anyone knows where Regional Meeting Minutes are posted, I would be glad to know?

Let's not kid ourselves that being a member of the CMC is first and foremost what we, as individuals, get out of our membership. The CMC is not a campaign organisation (many of us might like it to be so!) so the only reason to belong is because it offers what we want from the organisation. Once that offer becomes diluted we start to assess whether we should be members. To me it's as simple as that? Having access to nearly 200 campsites and a couple of thousand CL's is currently worth the relatively small amount I pay annually to be a member. Whether you like the way the Club is run, or its efficiency as annoying as that sometimes can be, is secondary to the usefulness of having access to its sites and services. There are, of course, alternatives out there but the club does have some sites in some pretty unique places which you can't find elsewhere so there are lots of reason to remain a member.

On the wholeI agree DK. But a functioning website allowing you to view Sites, find CLs, pay your Membership, book easily on line, cancel and get a refund easily online, is an absolute necessity in this day and age as well, hence why this thread is running.
It’s why I use Tesco home delivery rather than any other supermarket home delivery, quick, intuitive, reliable, set up to be used with individual preferences, easy to pay and almost instant refunds. Not a bad rewards scheme either down the years……. Tesco know logistics inside out.

Here’s a link to the Regions, there are further links to click on, including lots about events and Rallies. But no actual meeting minutes link as far as I can see.

Sorry to hear that you've had issues renewing online Tony, please could you send us an email with your membership number and the first line of your address and we will get this investigated. If you have any screenshots of the error message you received that would also be helpful *Rachel"Rowena said this was a known problem, but obviously not everyone at CAMC is aware of it, but just for good measure herewith the screen shots again

well something to shout about, renewing your memership manually e.g. sending in form and giving credit card details works, my card was debited today, and, the membership data base has been updated because if i now try to renew, it says silly boy you are already a member, we will send you a message when you next need to renew, so now unable to check if the online facility works or not. I wonder if anybody took notice of the comments i made on the form re online facility not working ?

I have just received my letter inviting me to renew my membership which followed numerous emails asking the same. It states that membership cards have gone digital " inspired by members feedback bla bla bla" Why do the allway use the "excuse " that ever change made is due to being inundated by membership requests to do so,why not just admit this is happening because its what "The Club" wants to happen. I am aware that you can still ask for the physical card if required.
