Hotel Camping Bologna

We have a trip to Italy planned leaving UK 26 April Newcastle Amsterdam DFDS ferry.   We have hardly ever booked a site on previous trips.  However on the return trip to the UK we are going to stop in Bologna and the dates coincide with Whitsun.  If anyone has used Hotel Camping Bologna would be interested to know how many pitches there are.   ACSI says a 'large'campsite but in writing to the site have been unable to ascertain the number of pitches they offer.   If anyone has information on the site it will be helpful

Assuming I have looked at right site; a very quick Google search show 120 pitches all with 6amp elec.  I have not stayed there so cannot comment further.

We stayed at the Hotel campsite in Bologna in September 2021. The site does indeed have over 100 pitches. At the top end of the site near to the reception area is hotel accommodation and around part of the site there are apartments to rent. Having said all that our experience was of a quiet site that we would definitely return to again. The site is on a bus route into the city, the bus driving into the site and stopping at a dedicated bus stop. Bus tickets are available from the campsite reception where the staff are very helpful. Bologna is a beautiful city and the Quadrilatero area is a must for the meat, fish, veg and pasta markets even if you’re not buying. Prices in the market restaurants are extremely reasonable and the food is top quality hence the locals use them a lot. It’s not a holiday type site so I doubt you’ll have problems at Whitsun but if you’re concerned ring or email the site to reserve a pitch.

As you enter the area around the site don’t be put off, its somewhat run down to say the least but the site is safe and secure. I’m sure you will not be disappointed.

Thank you commeyras and motorhomer for your information.   On a belt and braces basis we have reserved our nights at the Bologna camp as we do not have to pay anything until we arrive and can cancel up to 24 hours.   Would have taken potluck if there had been another site nearby but have taken the sensible option.
