Good photos Tda and yes  it would have been good to have them free as well.

Just been checking our local boot sale website and finally got a date for our local village 2nd April gosh a lot earlier than last year but Easter is earlier this year so hope we will not have a cold spell as last year we had to cancel due to very cold weather but hope we can do this year as our friends have a large trailer of stuff to get rid of but we only a few items to get rid of but might find a few more things before then.

OH out tomorrow sorting folks computers out I will be sorting kitchen cupboards as weather forecast  is not good more rain and may even get some light snow showers.

Have a good weekend folks. Stay safe.

Whilst shopping yesterday we were the only folk still wearing masks but not so many folk about thankfully but still could here folk coughing.

Robsail, pleased to hear that your anniversary was quieter than you feared. Take one day at a time and take care of yourself. I am also glad that your car passed it's MOT. My elderly Clio is due it's MOT in a couple of weeks.  Fingers crossed.

Such a lovely photo of your grand-daughter Heddlo. It sounds as though you are having a great time with your family over there.

I hope your cough is on it's way out brue. There seems to be such a lot of it around at the moment. My god-daughter had covid in December and despite numerous bouts of antibiotics is still coughing so she has just been for a chest X-Ray.  She has MS so I am a bit concerned.

It is good news that you had a nice walk without your stick WN. Also nice to hear that you have booked some cottages for your holidays.

Son and family went back to NI at the weekend. We had such a lovely and busy time with them and the rest of the family - I think we have just about recovered! At least the weather has been fairly good most days this week to get all the washing dry. We left OH at home one day so that I could have a really good walk with son and grandson. It was nice to get out stretch my legs.  OH doesn't walk too well these days and when we do walk it is at a very slow pace,  He has had two scans/tests in recent weeks to try and get to the cause and he is now waiting for the results - I have a feeling it could be a while undecided. His latest a few days ago was an MRI scan when he was given headphones and a choice of music so he chose the 50s and spent 40 minutes listening to Elvis, Buddy Holly and Frank Sinatra laughing

Well a sad farewell to Boa Vista and left at 25C and landed in Manchester to an icy blast when the door opened at 3C at 9.30 pm. Like everyone else wearing shorts perhaps wasn't a good idea.

A great interesting airport, we were the only flight that afternoon, it's all open air really as you can see.

I would definitely recommend Cape Verde, it was certainly warmer than the Canaries and the RUI  hotel fantastic. The only very slight negative is the flight time of about 5 and a half hours, it's not the time but for winter it's just a stretched 737 so an extra legroom seat would have been good.

    And it's so cold here!

Good to read Robsail had a quiet anniversary. Funny things, sometimes the upcoming date days are worse. Every year is different. Brue your parent's anniversaries must be very difficult.

Our car passed its MOT, no advisory but we had the rear tyres changes as they were getting ready for a change. Did the front ones last August. All four had signs of cracking on the side walls. Fingers crossed for yours milliehull.

Cornersteady we did same hotel as you 11 years ago last November for OH big birthday. He loves the sun and nearest guaranteed with heat. Airport is interesting. We were probably only flight out, can't remember, but it was last one. There was an issue of delay and it was mentioned that we had to be up by dark as there were no lights. Accommodation could have been an issue as previous flight filled our rooms and island was full. We were also lucky we were last flight with food and entertainment included. Its a long flight in 'cramped' plane, apparently just short flight time of using a bigger plane. We ventured outside the complex and were incredibly shocked at the poverty and standpipes in contrast to the lush wasteful conditions inside a wonderful hotel. Several guests were still whining "we didn't get our champagne, they've not got x yet or z" due to weather conditions fir supplies to arrive, the cruise Dock wasn't built.

Hard landscapers finished - Tuesday, but they were a few blocks short again. That was patio slabs, wall bricks and the block paving extension! Which they inserted Wednesday when they cleared up and returned our garage to us. We'd been very lucky with dry weather but baturally it rained before they could sand in the last bit, so that needs doing. Good news is we don't have to pay for that block work until complete. Looks very good. Needs a good clean as lots of mucky footprints but will wait until last of windows are in.

Been a made few weeks but great progress, ensuite ceiling down, no insulation whatsoever 😱, so as much as could be accommodated in, recorded, plastered, new light fitting. Dried very nicely. COLD floor tiles screeded yesterday, all 3 doors currently in our bedroom, cushion flooring going down Wednesday.

I cancelled BT upgrade with £9 pm saving as we ended up with windows arriving quicker than expected. Despite that engineer turned up amid the chaos and since we were still getting texts to say it was on (right and left hand) did the job. So that's done too.

We have ended up with a unexpected restoration project Despite survey but at least we know everything good. What will I do with my time?

OH had to have more antibiotics and chest xray amid it all. Still has dreadful cough but no lung issue 🤞. I hope brue and ABM are recovering too. Plus all those who I've read are poorly, huge sDeleted User User springs to mind, and I've not mentioned.

Typing this on my phone, no issues at all. Nothing I've done..... just read post and amended spelling, cursor about all over the place and huge spaces appearing. Posting now before I lose it all

Well it was an interesting if lengthy read B2..wink Hope your OH recovers soon, at least he is being checked over. You will probably be relieved when you get your inside and outside space to yourself again!

I'm waiting to see if the antibiotics have kept things at bay otherwise I have to phone in again. Fingers 🤞

Cold here, hope Corners has recovered from the re-entry to the northern temperatures!

    🤣🤣🤣

Actually I have enjoyed it all given me a buzz and purpose. But it will be great to get up at leisure 😉

Hope your antibiotics work, OH on 2nd week of same ones, they seem to be making a difference now 🤞.

We seem to have fallen extremely lucky with new GP practice. I went for routine blood pressure, weight bloods yesterday. Phone call today to say all good but cholesterol a bit high - statins? No thanks I'll eat better and see 😃

Popped out to water newly moved shrubs, would love to work out there but too chilly to be comfortable so decided against it. Sun is pleasant at the moment.

An unscheduled morning at DD's house, at least the sun is shining.

Yesterday we were here to look after the boys, and DD had to go into her office in town.  OH found a mountain of washing waiting to be done, so had me tidy away my grouting stuff, and requested that I remove various cardboard boxes to the garage.  Unfortunately the electrically operated garage door would not open, so I had to use the emergency release cable, which I had fitted last time this happened.  This was not easy, but brute force won through in the end.

Boxes were duly removed and then problem investigated, which turned out to be a broken wire in the unit, so I agreed to come back today to fix it.  Hopefully it will not take too long.

We were in the area anyway as we went to pick up a huge Ikea solid birch table that someone was giving away.  A basement flat with reasonable street parking, and the strong young man took one look at me and offered to carry all the bits to the car!  Being solid wood, the bits are very heavy, so I was glad of the offer.

The table will either end up being re-made into a large coffee table for DD's lounge, age, children and beer bottles have taken their toll on her present one, or the timber used to make various other smaller items.

On our way here we called in at the new Lidl store nearby which just opened yesterday.  It is HUGE!    We had a voucher for £5 off £25, so stocked up on toilet rolls, washing pods and a few items for the fridge.

Little Nathan was not well yesterday, quite pale and tired when I fetched him from nursery,  just wanting Mummy.  We went along the hall to where Mummy usually is when working from home, just to show him that she really was not there, and he promptly threw up all over me.....and the floor.......3 times.  So that was a right mess to be cleared up.  He then fell asleep and after about 20 minutes was awake again and perfectly fine.  I had to borrow some clothes to go home in.

Must have been something he had eaten that had not agreed with him as he went on later to eat dinner and is fine today.

KjellNN I've always admired your energy but after weeks on workmen in I feel.exhausted. you seem like the Durecell bunny 🐰. Meant in the nicest sense. Glad your grandson OK after your misfortune. Sounds like it's something that disagreed with him. One of of granddaughters suffers similarly - tests showed her allegories. Fries or similar I believe its called. Must look it up again, although not having to produce food for her it's not stuck. Homework to do when we next see her. Mind you the advise was to gradually reintroduce things. Eggs is a trigger for her, even in cakes etc.

Heddlo beautiful photos again. How quickly a visit passes. The adjustment to 'home life' again takes some getting used too.

    Using phone again...... 🤞

Tonight we’re going out to celebrate. Six of us - Henry and I, and our son and family from next door, who have worked so hard whilst he was struggling before his new hip, and then during recovery.

There’s three birthdays to celebrate from the last couple of months. And today we began to use our new solar system ! The panels are up and connected to whatever it has to connect to. It’s a bit of a mystery to me, and at the moment it’s difficult to see what’s happening (a box with a display is way up high out of the way of the cows, unless you have a ladder). But by Tuesday we will have an App and it will give me something else to look at (as well as the CCTV).

That's it last day up at our son's house. All done, now over to the estate agents to do their job and sell it. I'll be glad when it sells, it was mum and dad's house. Mum sold it to our eldest when she moved to shelter housing. They never lived in it being in the army. It was rented out for years then empty for the last few years. I have lots of happy memories but it's sad to see the garden so neglected, mum used to have it full of flowers and a good veg patch.

Spent a couple of hours this afternoon in our front garden, it's starting to dry out a bit now so looking good now I've turned over the soil. Lots of crocus and snowdrops out and the daffodils and tulips have their leaves up, no buds yet but it won't be long. Lots of bushes budding up, it's been a lovely sunny day and not to cold, yesterday was freezing.

OH washed and hoovered my car, if its nice tomorrow then maybe he will do his car 😁

    Have a good weekend folks.

A day late in going to Waitrose today as we had our Lunch Club yesterday.

Was interested to see how the salad and veg crisis had impacted but there still seemed to be enough of everything we wanted. Did see one lady with three quite large bags of tomatoes in her trolley but who am I to judge? There were however plenty of turnips if anyone was inclined to follow the advice of a certain Government Minister!!!

DK. We asked our Waitrose delivery man how things were in store and he said fine, plenty of everything! Maybe some of the bigger players are worse off due to their policies?

Heddlo more nice photos, quite a contrast between the old and new. Enjoy your final week.

TG I expect you are about to zoom off and have a good break from all your recent efforts. Hope someone likes the house, the end of an era for you all.

Fish and chips for us tonight, run out of energy. smile

Just slowing catching up with all things. And yes it just feels so cold.

Thanks for all the kind comments and yes for anyone interested it was the RUI Karamboa which was refurbished last year with old pools taken out and new ones put in. It 's a wonderful place, at the moment the hotel is the resort, huge though it is, and there's a few miles of desert around it. No doubt in years times more and more hotels will be built. The whole place is very safe for tourists as we're told the government is very very keen to get tourist and keep them coming back as really that's the only source of income so any sort of anti-tourist behaviour is dealt with very 'severely' (whatever that means).

The hotel had everything, on the beach with, five pools (plus the 40 odd private ones like ours) and 7 restaurants and I didn't count the bars but there was a few including two swim up pool ones. Lots of activities and the shows were excellent at night. We stayed mainly by our pool apart from feeding times but that's what we wanted. There were trips on quad bikes (you could go all around the island on the beaches) and 4x4's into the interior, also sailing trips with beach BBQ's. A walk to the largest town is possible just by following the beach!

In fact we've booked to go back this time next year!

But they do have some strange rules on the beach. Inside the hotel it was almost mandatory!

Although I suspect a few club members might like the first rule about children?

Millie, Best Wishes to your OH, hope wait for the results is too long.

Enjoy your evening with family Goldie

Hope the house sells quickly Tammygirl and have a lovely holiday.

Cornersteady lovely photos, sounds a great place, just wish it was within our budget 🤔

Best wishes to all those feeling poorly,  wishing everyone  a speedy recovery, and good luck to all all those in the middle of building projects.

Not been up to much, workmen seem to have finished but have left barriers and other stuff on pavement outside our house! 😬 they have started in the next road down, so still noisy 🙄

The fruit/veg and salad shelves totally full at our local Morrison’s. Don’t like fresh tomatoes at this time of year, the are just tasteless.  Brought a nice lettuce grown in Lancashire.  Shelves full of English eggs.  The scare tactics are being pushed by a group with an agenda

I agree about tasteless tomatoes in winter Oneputt, I buy a few each week, the latest had an unpleasant taste. I also have home grown frozen roasted tomatoes that last through the colder months so could probably manage without. Will be growing tomato seeds soon, can't imagine the plant culture on the sort of scale needed to feed millions! smile

We did our Aldi shopping this morning. There wasnt quite as much selection of fruit and veg but plenty to go round. I cant understand the outrage about a minister saying we should eat turnips. That was what we did when I was a child. It  was seasonal fruit and veg only so in the winter it was just root veg. My Mum used to 'bottle' soft fruit and some veg during the summer and store it in Kilner jars for us to eat during the winter. No imported fruit and veg in those days.

The cause is still a mystery as he has very varied tastes, and had not eaten anything he has not had before.  What came up was not however well chewed, so maybe that was the problem.

OH has had a discussion with DD and it has been decided that the fate of the free table is for it to be cut down to make a new coffee table to the size she wants, and the remains will be used for turned items or chopping boards.    The wood is  very  nice.

The tools to do the work are here, so the table has come home with us.  I may have the strength to get it out of the car tomorrow!  It is not a priority project, so could be a while till I make a start on it.

I miss going into a large French supermarket in the summer where you can actually smell the tomatoes, it's almost over powering. Not sure why we seem to pack everything up in plastic in this country!

Grand photos from Heddlo and CS. Both seem to have had holidays that will be hard to forget.

Glad that most of your work is now complete B2, and that you can now have the house and garden to yourselves.

Pleased to read that the antibiotics are working for those with a cough.

We were in Aldi today and there was plenty of veg and fruit, although I did see a note about restrictions on some items. We have had two fine sunny days although there was a little rain through each of the last three nights, which resulted in a sprinkling of snow on some of the Lakeland hills and Cross Fell.

A couple of photos from our day out yesterday. Low Garden Bridge and an honourable gent in his mausoleum.
